Doing some research into RAF Mustangs as I want to build my Tamiya as a Mk IV or Mk IVa
I have found a photo of 112 Sqdn aircraft GA S (KH774) which clearly shows it to be a Mk IV (or upgraded IVa) with a Hamilton prop. That's good but I am trying to see what camo scheme it had and for that I have conflicting information as the photo is not clear.
There are drawings shown of the aircraft in the 'firewall' scheme with no yellow wing stripe, but others show the standard RAF scheme with a wing stripe.
I am inclined to go with the firewall scheme for two reasons:
1/ I actually would like to show an alternative scheme as my spit will have the standard scheme!!!!
2/ If an illustrator were to make a mistake the likelihood is that they would use the standard camo - well there is a logic about that somewhere!!!
Any views, knowledge or opinions. I see that Corgi did a model of this aircraft showing the standard camo and yellow stripe as a Hamilton propped bird but that of course means nothing!
There is another picture of a model of the same aircraft with the firewall scheme as a MkIVa...
Confusing or what.
The photo is the final arbiter of the Hamilton prop but the camo remains a problem.
