Back in the mid 1950's, I found a book in the library of my second "Elementary School" (Primary School), a special "Boy's Edition" of Lindberg's book. This must have been published around the time of the first edition's of the Adult book, back around the 1930's. It had a special feature -- a pull-out plan for a rubber-powered flying model of the "Spirit", to be made from bamboo strips, and covered with tissue. It had been specially designed by Lindberg for proper flying qualities, so it had an extended nose.
I made and adaptation, in 1/4" balsa sticks (around 1954-56, IIRC), but the sticks should have been thinner, gave me some trouble where one was supposed to bend the frame pieces (did not know much about making a plane from scratch, by adaptation of a plan, not at that age!).
I have not been able to find a copy of this book, with much searching. Has anyone here ever come across this special edition, with the plans intact?
Regards, John
