    Another rung up the ladder

Thanks once again to Johns wonderful customer service, Postie knocked on the door this morning with my new Airbrush.

Now, some will say, so what, it is an airbrush. Some will say, why, ya can't use one anyway? (who did say that?) Some will even say who needs one?

However ladies and gentlemen, this is not just an airbrush, this is an Iwata airbrush. This is not just a tool, it is a beautifully engineered masterpiece of painting technology. This is not just another acquisition, it is an item of desire, it is sumptuous, from the rubberised non slip case to the weight of a well balanced chromed icon

Welcome to my humble hands oh goddess of spraying.

OK, you may think I have gone over the top a tad but I have been sat here pressing the button and pulling back the trigger while making gentle yet constantly variable hissing noises.

It also means that I am now able to spray just about any paint without worrying about irreplaceable rubber 'O'rings rotting away, one is already split on my Chinese one. This has silicon seals and needle packing all of which can be easily obtained and replaced if need be.

I just hope I am up to the standard I know it is capable of.

Did I say I am in love with this???????

Cheers guys, will have a play this afternoon/evening. I am thinking of getting the .3mm needle set for this one Richy but I will see what can be done with the .5 first. Certainly cheeper than getting a separate AB.

You are right, this is the budget end of any decent AB but to be honest, I don't think spending another £100 on top would make any difference to what I could do with it. OK, if I was an artist doing custom art work on cars and bikes, maybe for the finer control. However as a modeller, I am really using this as a small spray gun. The main difference in going up to this was the easily obtainable spares, the silicon seals instead of rubber 'O' rings which will suffer with cellulose/lacquer based paints and just a better level of engineering which can be felt straight away. The trigger action is soooo smooth compared to my old one. Also looking at the needle tip, it is clear that this is better engineered, it looks like to one in my old brush was tapered on a belt sander lol. Having said that, I am very happy with what my old one has done and will continue to do.

But the main reason was I WANTED ONE....... Yes, OK, I am that shallow....... AND, and, you get a sticker to stick on the shed wall.... top that.... OK, I will shut up now.

I'd love to be able to get one. They look the dogs doo dars but i can't stretch to that much. I'm looking for a 0.3mm double action AB with gravity feed and my ultimate goal is to have an Iwata. I'll have to make do with the cheaper options for now :damn:

I was in exactly the same position Allyne, took me 8 months to get around to doing this. Works out at £10 per month saving up for it.

Graham I take it your better half knows she has got a rival. If I had said what you said to my ex it would end up in divorce ( oh bugger it has ?) good luck and happy spraying. Jealous now! Gareth.:sobbing:

Congratulations on your new toy. Sorry I mean professional quality painting thingy.

NĂ¥ joking aside, hope you like it and look forwards to seing what you can get out of it.

I too Brought an other airbrush today, just a little one for detail work. No Cup! Direct feed just enough to be able to do a figure or pre/post shading with. 0.2 mm nozzle so I might one day be able to paint pencil thin lines :-/

I have yet to get mine out of the box, 'cause the misses is sitting across the room.

If any one wants a good cheap air brush, I can highly recomend a look at these: sparmax-airbrushing system

If some of their gear looks a bit familiar, its because they produce AB's for many companies. They just thought it was time to sell them under their own name.

                          You too? :grinball2:

And I always thought it was just me, D'you make HGV airbrake hissing noises occasionally when you pull to a stop in the car sometimes?

(Assuming you don't i'd like like to add, neither do I, ever, honest, ahem..............)

Am looking forward to seeing some finished articles with it, do you notice a quality / feel difference, BTW, not in the same league but i've just gotten a Spraymaster one (top feed) with interchangeable cups and it actually feels more solid and smooth to use than my original Chinese cheapie, (though i'll still use that too)

No because I don't drive a car. However, between you and me Mike, I do do the brake noises when I pull up on me push bike......

No John, love is not too strong a word. Sadly I have not had time to try it out today, maybe in the morning now although we have people coming for dinner. The Gods may try but they will not keep us apart......
