Stefee's 1/24 Tamiya Subaru Impreza WRC '99

Lovely paint job Stefan, the blue really pops. Looking forward to seeing it after the 2K.

Slow but steady progress today. Drivetrain and wheels primered black. Interior parts being deseamed in preparation for primer and holes drilled in accelerator pedal and foot rest.

Busy day today, finished prepping and primered all remaining parts. Painted the rims with Tamiya X12 which is pretty close to the real colour in preparation for recalling and clearcoat.
Talking of decals, what a pig the large "swoosh" on the side is, body stage line, door handle and panel gap to go around - needless to say I cocked it up with the decal cracking and disintegrating in places. Will have to try and find something luminous yellow to try and disguise the messes. The tiny Pirelli decal on the corner of the front bumper curves in numerous directions and all the MicroSol in the world doesn't quite cure it. Oh well 40% done and more to do tomorrow.

Thanks for following along.

A great choice Stefan. Very few cars scream rally pedigree like an Impreza. Lovely paint job. Big decals are always awkward and even smaller ones, when intended to go over multiple curves, often don't behave.

Yay!!!! the exterior decals finally finished, same problem with the side swoosh as yesterday but the rest went on better or maybe I am just getting used to applying them.
There is even a Dec 99 tax disc fitted to the roll cage on the off side as the car is LHD. Apparently rally cars never had them on the screens because they could be changed after every stage due to damage. The OZ Racing decals on the rims were very trying.

That is beautiful work Stefan!!! So nice and neat too. Like I said to Pete, you two need to slow down as there are still 75 laps to go in the race. Heck, I'm still trying to figure out what to paint first, let alone still nipping parts off the sprue...

Thanks for the kind words Allen.
The reasons I am getting a fair amount done are;
1. I am retired so after doing my chores I have lots of time.
2. We are going on holiday on the 5th July for 8 days so would like to finish it.
3. I have a Toyota Supra race car kit so would like to attempt a 2nd build.
4. I am very competitive!!!!

Love a scooby

I remember when I did mine I had all sorts of problems trying to find the right shade till I found out no two years were the same!

Survey says!!!!.........Good answer Stefan and I can understand that. I'm retired too, but guess I'm getting slower in my old age. Can't wait to see the Supra...

Nothing done yesterday or this am due to gardening and shopping g with SWMBO.
Managed to lay down the 2k clear today and I am pleased with the outcome, a couple of dirt inclusions to get eradicate when fully cured. So into the airing cupboard for a week and time to start the fiddly painting.

Thanks for following.

Looking very nice Stefan.

I still haven't moved over to 2k for my models. I suppose I should!

Andy, as you are well aware, as long as you have the as appropriate PPE, 2k is the way to go.
I tried automotive 2k which was OK but too thick and it tended to obscure finer details/panel gaps.
The Proscale paints 2k I used here is less viscous and very easy to spray.
