    Airfix 1/72 Hawker Hurricane Mk.1

Thanks for that Joe. I guess the ack ack guys were kind of nervous and not having the latest silhouettes of the enemy. Cheers, Wabble

    USS Buckley 1/700 Pitroad kit

Hi, have forgotten how blooming small this thing is in 1/700 scale. I have put the sub assemblies together and dry fitted it to the hull. This was used to plan out the base and plot where the depth charges were dropped. I will transfer the plan onto compressed foam board with raised sides and...

    Airfix 1/72 Hawker Hurricane Mk.1

On page 2 and already done. Nice work Joe. Always wondered why the underside was painted in that scheme with half black? Cheers, Wabble

    Movie night

One classic I would recommend is Bequeath to The Nation about Lord Nelson's personal life with Lady Hamilton starring Peter Finch as Nelson. The music and battle itself is inspiring together with the relationships amongst the people around them. Have an idea for a vignette. Cheers, Wabble

    Movie night

I'm an old movie buff myself. Sometimes it inspires my dio building like what Where Eagles Dare did to my Mission Complete Dio. The one that is ongoing is influenced by The Enemy Below with Robert Mitchum and Kurt Jergens. So from an ice cold vignette it's now the Atlantic. My Ambush dio was...

    Greetings!

Hi Darian and welcome, Hope to nudge you over to Dioramas and it usually starts with figures...do you add pilots to your planes? So that's where that came from. The Ramly Burger stalls in Malaysia lists it in their menu. Always wondered where the name came from. Quite similar to the McD's...

    Newbie

Hi Anthony, I was more concerned about the mold lines on the armrest and the rough stubs left from the sprue attachment. That should be easily cleaned up with a scrape of a knife or sanded down with a flat file and final clean up with a swish of TET. Cheers, Richard aka Wabble

    Newbie

Welcome aboard Anthony, What a big start...I mean scale. Jims tips are a good measure to follow. For paints, get the main colours following the type and squadron you're building. If you're good at mixing paints and tone savvy you'll save some money. Only paints with tones like white, red...

    Airfix 1/72 Hawker Hurricane Mk.1

Missed the beginning of this build Joe and reminiscing how I got one built with the horrendous episode of scratching the missing the front canopy. Beautiful kit and I highly recommend it to anyone who has had the bad experience of the earlier Airfix '60s kits although I do enjoy their challenge...

    Enforced absence

OOh, sounds painful Bob. Hope you mend up well. Did they show you the instruction sheet for the procedure and got all the cutters and glue at the ready? I'm sure the needles were Matrons idea, thought they would have used a butterfly needle to feed all the medication through it. Hope they gave...

    USS Buckley 1/700 Pitroad kit

Thanks Jim, For now I only have the sprues to show... you can see it's a duplicate and notice the extra funnels and closed main 5" gun turrets. Okay I also am showing the yellowed decal sheet and destruction single sheet page back and front. The Standard Cannon class will be built for the...

    USS Buckley 1/700 Pitroad kit

I guess they were short on Commanding officers and threw them into the deep end. When Hollywood is involved you'll see a heavy one sided affair.. Don't know about Greyhounds narrative but at least it has an Allied unity to it but again the US has to be the hero...it sells tickets. For TEB it is...

    USS Buckley 1/700 Pitroad kit

I think I will. I like the scene during action stations where all stations were acknowledging wearing their oversized radio helmets expecting Rick Moranis to appear in his large Darth Vader helmet replying. It shows that in a far far distant galaxy many years from now, rebels in watch towers...

    USS Buckley 1/700 Pitroad kit

Hi Guys, I've rewatched an old classic...The Enemy Below...starring Robert Mitchum and Kurt Jergens. At least this movie shows what goes on in the U-boat unlike 'Greyhound'. I won't be surprised if this movie was referenced to make Greyhound and the tactics similar albeit switched around as the...

Considering this as my first aircraft build

Wow, what a big entry into planes...nice. For a 1/72 kit, it has big enough parts to make the transition from cars. Not so painful but beware that it is a 34 year old kit re-boxed from Ertl days so I would suggest some dry fitting before hand. Hope the plastic is thick enough for certain areas...

Italeri Hudson Mk IV 1/72 scale.

Thanks, I should keep a list of what's been done from now on. The grey matter is starting to falter.😅 Cheers, Wabble

Italeri Hudson Mk IV 1/72 scale.

Hi Guys, actually I forgot to show you was the quick fix of the top nose glazing. I had missed the top window just forward of the two nose brownings. I thought it was curtains for the build but remembered the paints and thinners I used was all Mr Colour and sighed a relief...it was savable. With...

Italeri Hudson Mk IV 1/72 scale.

Thanks Joe, by my late reply it shows my slow foray into modeling now. This time of year is always hot and sticky so modeling takes a backseat. Sports on telly is also a distraction and also a catch up for youtube stuff. I'll force myself to do the camo. The painting instructions are already on...
