AI gives several options, including the answer I gave when we discussed this in September 😁. One I hadn’t seen before is that some numbers are considered unlucky in Japanese culture so may not have been issued. It’s as good a theory as any…….and I don’t think anyone really knows….- Tim Marlow

Painting parts prior to assembly, yes or no?
I don’t think I’ve ever painted anything on the sprue, mostly for the reasons Andy has already given. I do, however, build sub assemblies, paint them, and then final assemble as required. Never seen one of those before Bob. I have occasionally thought about taping a plastic sheet across the front of my spray booth to shut the front down after spraying, but haven’t got around to it yet. No worries Johnners. When I started, slaters was all you could get 😁. I believe they used to buy 8 by 4 sheets of a product called Bextrene and clip it up, package it, and sell it to modellers. I bought a big bundle of offcuts at a show once and used it for ages. These days I prefer Evergreen...- Tim Marlow
