    1/48 ESCI Henschel hs 129

Love that Tony. It’s an aircraft I always liked when I was a kid, but I’ve never actually made a kit of one.

    Ye Olde Drinkers

Lovely stuff John. I don’t remember the Inn at all, which is a shame as it looks fantastic. Figures look nice as well. Faces in particular are well defined. Pity the two woman are twins, but that’s not unusual in figure ranges.

    Forum going very slow?

Bit unnecessary Toto. How about you offer suggestions as you obviously have extensive experience of running this sort of show. It is far more constructive than disparaging the efforts of others with absolutely no evidence to back it up.

    Tamiya 1/12 CBR1000RR-R

Hate to say it mate, but that Honda you are doing now is the one I had exactly the same decal issues with 🙀. Hope yours behave better than mine did….

Experiments with laquer and the dreaded pong!

Physio is fine. Not much to it if I’m honest. Just wiggling ankles and clenching muscle groups at the moment. Leg lifts etc don’t start for six weeks. To be fair though, I started them as soon as I got the info running up to the op so they were second nature by the time I went in. First...

Experiments with laquer and the dreaded pong!

I’ve been out since Sunday Bob. Time between going into theatre and coming out of the hospital was around 28 hours….. Only on two to three doses of paracetamol now. Incredible how it’s moved on so fast. Obviously still weak and I’ll be on crutches for a few weeks, but I’m amazed how quickly...

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Thanks bud. Alice has been in for about a week now. I know the op is simple and successful, five of my cousins and kids have had it to date. Now we’ve calmed down we do have a plan, which depends on the time before surgery. In effect, if the wait for elective surgery is too long, we’ll fund...

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Thanks Tony. Frodo is thriving now, rapidly turning into a teenager that is all legs, teeth, and attitude….once he finishes teething, and loses his kittenmakers he’ll calm down I’m sure. I’ll pass on your regards to Alice as well. She needs the lift. Currently she’s in hospital with a bad...

    Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

You do know that light is just someone with a torch bringing you more knots Brian 🙀. Looking great, by the way.

    Spitfire Mk.Vb (Trumpeter 1/24)

Coming along nicely Steve. What is it with the wooden seat though? I thought all spits apart from the very early ones, had Bakelite seats? Is it a high altitude mod or something? PS, keep this rate of progress up and you’ll easily make the 100 year tribute build date 😄

Model clubs, what exactly do you do?

I co-ran a model railway club for a few years, and the tea/cake/chat/demonstration vibe was what we aimed at. Worked very well, and I’m sure it would for a scale model club. For actual model building we built a joint layout and a set of test tracks for running stock. Railways lend themselves...

Experiments with laquer and the dreaded pong!

Not too bad Bob. Getting to the point where I’m well enough to be bored, but not well enough to do anything about it…..still tiring quickly though.

May go dark for a little while

Cheers Mike. Bit of a painful miserable day yesterday, but feel much better today. Just time and doing my physio needed now….

    Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

Sounds like a plan Brian. However, in battle wouldn’t there be sails?

Experiments with laquer and the dreaded pong!

To be absolutely honest, Bob, even when opened they last a lot longer than you think. The ratings given by companies are about a fifth of their actual test life I seem to remember, so that they are given a very good margin of safety in a professional environment. Good rule of thumb is that if...

    Tamiya 1/12 CBR1000RR-R

Beautiful result Andy. It’s got a real convincing vibe about it. I’ve only done a couple of bikes myself, but when I did it felt like building a real one, which I did twice as a kid. As you say, it needs a different approach to other genres because you build and finish the sub assemblies and...
