Cheers Ian, I've ran an original Insignia (2011 plate) for the last 6 yrs and apart from a couple of things she's given me 99% trouble free motoring, ..thankfully she's being passed on to Mrs L, so she'll still be in the family so to speak.. Here she is.. -

Not model related in any way...(unless you count the fact it's a newer model than I already own)....but yesterday I went mad and threw just under 10 grand at this and it'll be arriving on Tuesday.. -

Finally cracked on and got the base finished... a couple of small things to deal with and I'm gonna be calling this build done....(thank god I hear you cry..lol). Ran out of coffee stirrers.. and got sooo close to binning this whole idea, but from knowhere a cunning plan was formed...- langy71

Right then... lets get cracking on this build and get it past the finishing line, Started on a base, just a few coffee stirrers, some closed cell pollyboard, and a no real idea what I'm doing but the moggling gods love a tryer.. Hi guys, a bit of a weird request, I'm trying to finish my 'zero' dio and need a 1/48 Japanese carrier deck section, having spent a fair few hours wandering all over the various internet model shops it would seem this item..... And....... He's finished .... apart from a flat coat..(maybe)..I really enjoyed throwing paint at this guy, he's turned out better than I thought he would for a 1/48 figure given that there are no paint colours mentioned on the packaging other than the basic, brown, green flesh..etc.. p.s...- langy71

had a quick hour laying down some thin basecoats, these are barely paint, more like a thin wash ... plenty of tidying up will be needed, and the lifejacket will be more darker green... but it's a work in progress......- langy71

Right I'm finally back..... Next up.. a splash or two of paint on this beauty of a figure... Already cleaned it up, washed it, and thrown some tonal shading on it to help with the shadows on the final colours..- langy71

Freshly delivered from Hannants..(cheaper than all the one's I found over the various site , rain forest, fleabay..etc)... Now I can restart work on my Zero for the GB.. -

So, here we are again, and a tiny update, spent most of the morning doing touch ups on detail parts... Oh and she did fall in to a pot of Flory Dark Wash... after a bit of clean up she came out looking like this... (not bad for saying there's at least four coats of paint and 'varnish' on...- langy71

What began as a quick 'I'll put the common marking decals on' quickly became a longer full decal session, I've gotta say I'm impressed with the Academy decals on this kit, they're perfectly registered, micro thin and lay down perfectly.. with only a bare waft of micro set.... no need for...- langy71

Well after sitting on this for a couple of days the colour just didn't look right... (it was way to 'caramelly'...if that's even a real word).....so back into the shed she went, a bit of a play with some colours and I've ended up with this, it's a bit lighter but in the flesh it has a more grey...- langy71

Had a blast with a touch of colour today, good ole Tamiya XF-76, Tamiya XF-60 and a few drops of white for good measure...(65/30/5) thinned to a naughty 60/40 mix, Then added some highlights and sun bleaching with a touch more white added to a 80/20 mix of the same colour, thinned to...- langy71

Well, I'm back with a small update... bench time has been some what restricted due to being crazy mad busy at work, so I managed to get an hour or so last night to throw a bit of paint at it... First up... silver undercoat... using Vallejo Model air Aluminium thinned to a cheeky 50/50 mix...- langy71

Had a play with the engine cowling colour today, another minefield...lol...(it's currently drying...and will need a gloss coat to bring out the shine)... crikey the zoomed image don't half show up any dust on it... Anyhoo, just for Reference, all Mitsubishi Aircraft had a cowling colour that...- langy71

Not too much done today...(Mrs L is abusing the fact it was a bank holiday to drag me all around the local Wickes. B&Q and Screwfix....).. so i just messed around with the various panels that should...(ish) be Aotake coloured... (for anybody that's gonna be spraying this colour, don't mess...- langy71

A bit more work on the cockpit, some decal work, a few touch ups with paint..(red, yellow and silver bits added to break up the overall 'flat' green colour) and knocked up some seat belts...they're not accurate per se but they look close enough.....I'm now calling this bit done... on to the rest...- langy71
