    Bowcat's Fly 1/32 Hurricane Mk 1

Morning guys, Been quite a while since my last post. I had moved on to the wings which took an entire week to complete. As usual there were no locating pins, but the biggest issue is it seems that the mold halves were off by a millimetre or so when the kit was made. None of the cut-outs or...

    Bowcat's Fly 1/32 Hurricane Mk 1

Thanks Joe. :) I got to work on the gear bay over the weekend. This is provided in resin and involves removing a large resin block on the bay roof. It needs to be thinned enough to fit in under the cockpit, but without breaking through the roof. This involved careful filing and sanding, holding...

Tamiya 1/35 M1025 High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (Humvee)

Hi Guys, A little side project I knocked together while I was waiting for parts for my BoB GB build. This will eventually be on a base with my other desert armour.

Got the fuselage half's together and the cockpit installed.

    Bowcat's Fly 1/32 Hurricane Mk 1

Morning Chaps. :) Finally back under way with this build. Never did receive the Sutton harness from RB (in fact PayPal reclaim now started) so I got a HGW set instead. This has now been installed in the seat, and the seat in the cockpit.

    Bowcat's Fly 1/32 Hurricane Mk 1

Morning guys, I've finished painting, detailing and weathering the cockpit, seat and framework. I decided to do the seat and frame in bare aluminium to give some contrast against the side walls. The metal paint look really rough in the pics, but I think it's just the flakes in the paint...

    Bowcat's Fly 1/32 Hurricane Mk 1

Afternoon guys. :) Work continues on the cockpit with the side walls, seat and rear armour. Fly provides a featureless flat piece of PE for the head armour, so I discarded that and attempted to make by own. It's not great, but better than the kit version and hopefully will look better under...

    Bowcat's Fly 1/32 Hurricane Mk 1

Morning Chaps, I made a start on this over the weekend. Obligatory what's in the box shots first. :) Despite the Finnish marking on the box art, the kit contains markings for V6665 as flown by Flight Commander John Kent (or Kentowski as he was sometimes referred to by his Polish Comrades) of...

    Meng 1/35 Abrams M1A2 TUSK

Hi Guys, Finished this one up last night. It's just sitting on an old temporary base for now, the eventual plan is to do a large base for all my desert armour (Abrams, Bradley, Challenger, Warrior, Humvee and maybe a Landrover and M-RAP) in a sort of FOB scene. Really enjoyed this kit (other...

    Meng 1/35 Abrams M1A2 TUSK

Morning guys. :) The end is in sight. I've been pushing on to get it finished as the BoB GB starts today. I started yesterday by attaching the tracks, which were a PITA trying to get the two part pads clipped together without anything to push down on. I got there in the end after much...

    Meng 1/35 Abrams M1A2 TUSK

Afternoon guys. :) I managed to get some bench time in this weekend so pushed on with the weathering. First step was dry brushing with neat oil paint, first a light grey to hit the high points, then a kind of buff (mixed on the fly) over the entire model to lighten it up. This was followed up...

    Meng 1/35 Abrams M1A2 TUSK

Afternoon chaps. :) It's been a little while since my last update and not much has been done. :tears-of-joy: I finished off the tracks and got them painted, they are now ready for weathering. And I painted up some packs, ammo cans, tarps, etc and got them washed. These will be attached to...

ALERT THINGS ARE GOIN TO CLOSE DOWN EG. THE WEB AN SMART TV

I find it funny. One of my occasional hobbies is scam baiting, when you reply to one of the obvious scam emails and play the scammers along (obviously with a fake email address). I'm on the 4.9eater.com forum which is dedicated to this. The game here is to either get bank details (which can be...

    Meng 1/35 Abrams M1A2 TUSK

Morning guys, Didn't get to the bench last week so cracked back into this build over the weekend. First job was to get the side skirts attached. This mostly went OK, I only broker one of the arms. While that was drying I got on with detail painting the MG's. Then it was time to get...

    Bowcat's Hurricane Mk1 Fly Models 1/32

Hey Jim, No they are new to me as well, but after some research they are apparently the best 1/32 version available at the moment, despite the flaws mentioned above. 303 Squadron (who only flew Hurricanes) claimed the largest number of enemies shot downs during the BoB at 126 destroyed, 13...

    Bowcat's Hurricane Mk1 Fly Models 1/32

Hi Guys, This will be my entry for the GB. This boxing contains markings for Group Captain John Kent's aircraft V6665 of the 303 Squadron based at Northolt which is what I will be building. I live within a couple of miles of Northolt airfield, and have been lucky enough to be on the base a...

    Meng 1/35 Abrams M1A2 TUSK

Cheers guys. :smiling3: I haven't been at the bench in almost a week, some 1:1 projects took precedence, but yesterday I managed the entire day on this build. I've now painted and glossed the entire lower hull, side skirts and wheels. I've used black basing to get some initial tonal...

Advanced Modelling Products vinyl masks and Hataka lacquer paint - a warning

Hi guys, I recently used vinyl masks on my F-16 obtained from Jim at Advanced Modelling Products in the US. Jim is a lovely guy and very helpful. The model was painted with Hataka orange line (lacquer) paints, and the masks applied after a 24 hour drying period. As this was a 3 colour scheme...
