    Preventing rust in compressor tank

I have both an airbrush compressor and a 50l workshop compressor, and take the time to drain the tanks at the end of each use. Although unlikely, if the tank gives up from rust when fully pressurised it's going to be a bad day. Better safe than sorry.

Is scale modelling a cheap or expensive hobby?

Definitely the cheapest of my hobbies. My most expensive is target shooting. As an example, this weekend I will be shooting 7.62mm on the 1000m range, the ammunition is now sitting at a little over £1 per round. In other words, every pull of the trigger, whether a hit or not, is costing £1+, and...

    Workbench, show us yours

Whilst not my modelling space (I model on the dining room table, so everything gets put away at the end of a session) I do occasionally make parts for models in my workshop.

    Carpet

I've done OK with flocking powder using Mod Podge. I've also seen videos of a guy using enamel paint of the same colour as a base.

Completely missed this build Paul. Very unusual subject, and very nicely executed.

    1/35 Tamiya Tiger I Late

Cheers Paul. Think it's going to be a long build, got so many other non-modelling projects on at the moment.

Hi Chaps, Over a month on and I finally got some bench time to make a start on this. As usual, wheels and lower hull first.

    Pin stripes

Hi Lee, I get that mate, I have a Cricut Air 2 so well used to cutting, weeding and transferring. I was just wondering what material you used. As I mentioned, I have used Oramask 810 but find it leaves a residue. Cheers, B

    Pin stripes

Lee, what material are you using for your masks? I used Oramask 810 to make some stencils for a rifle stock, but found it left a lot of residue.

    Another polishing question.....

A child’s toothbrush (preferably not one they are still using). Going back to the original question, I never polish before glossing, but once glossed and cured I do "flat back" before polishing. I use 6000 and 8000 Trizact pads. Just be careful on corners so you don’t burn through.

    Warning re Polishing Compounds.

Water in your airbrush, use it as a jet washer. ;)

    Warning re Polishing Compounds.

Have to admit I do sometimes use rotary polishing pads with Tamiya compound, but not had that issue. It may well depend on the amount of pressure applied, and the gloss coat. I use lacquer paint and gloss exclusively which may dry harder than acrylics?

So I don't visit for a couple of days and everything’s changed. 😂 Looks good John, hope it all went smoothly.
