US Vietnam based figures in 1:35

It always amazes me how figures suddenly become more "Lifelike" or "Human" once the flesh tones have been added. They have all been primed and had a first rough flesh coat added, to be tidied up later. I have also started on the US uniform colours. The "Ladies" will be suitably brighter in...

    Vietnam Diorama - 1:35 - US troops/vehicles, etc

Still not decided on what to build exactly, but was playing around with few base boards, laying out vehicles, etc, then I remembered I had a bamboo type hut from an old Airfix Frontier Checkpoint set. NB: I had previously used the little checkpoint hut and checkpoint barrier in my Poor Bloody...

    Peter's M706 Commando Armoured Car - Hobby Boss - 1:35

Both inside and outside have had first coats now... Also highlighted some minor details inside, seats, steering wheel, pedals, etc. Will deffo need at least another coat on both. Think I'll weather the inside a bit too before sealing it all up with the top chassis/body...

    Peter's M706 Commando Armoured Car - Hobby Boss - 1:35

I had a rummage in my paint stash and Tamiya XF71- Cockpit green, seems fairly close, maybe a tiny tad too dark, but I am going with that....

US Vietnam based figures in 1:35

US Vietnam based figures in 1:35

As part of my ongoing US Icons GB and an upcoming Vietnam Diorama that I will be building, I have a small selection of 1:35 scale figures that would be suitable for both these. I tend to just build a couple of figures at a time and place them as part of another build, but, as I have a fair few...

    Vietnam Diorama - 1:35 - US troops/vehicles, etc

As I am taking part in the current US Icons GB, I may actually end up doing several vehicles, and I also have a few US Vietnam based figures, so I thought once they are all built they might look good in a diorama. So I am thinking of some sort of Vietnam based dio, maybe a bit of jungle, (never...

    Peter's M706 Commando Armoured Car - Hobby Boss - 1:35

Was not sure about internal colour, but found a couple of websites which show a light green interior, see photo below. Anyone know what code this would be for Tamiya XF or Mr Hobby or Vallejo Model Colour paints? Cheers

    Peter's M706 Commando Armoured Car - Hobby Boss - 1:35

Tried a dry fit of the the main body/chassis and all seems to go together quite well, maybe a bit of a gap at one end, but some laccy bands or a few clamps should sort that out once its glued. Then it was on to some primer, and then started some sub assemblies, eg: axles, fule drum and...

    Peter's M706 Commando Armoured Car - Hobby Boss - 1:35

I have now started this one. Looks fairly simple build TBH, not a huge part count either, so the lower chassis is now complete. I think I will paint it up internally as I intend to try and have a few access panels open, so some will be visible. The instructions seem to only offer the hatches...

    Weather on your planet

Yep, its a bit she-ite here too, we were away in Norfolk for the week, it was not too bad, but a mix of rain and cloud all week. We did what we wanted to do, so decided to come home a day early, so back home now. Rained on and off all the way home, Lol. When we got home, erm, yep, bit more...

    6th June 1944 - D-day

Just thought I'd spare a thought for the anniversary of the above, 82 years now passed by..... I have not watched TV today, but I would bet there's not much coverage by the main stream media, as usual. Brave people, all those who went through D day, as we know not all survived, but without...

    BLADES.

What type of wood? eg: balsa, etc. And what do you need to cut, eg: large pieces, small pieces, thin strips, etc? For general thin Balsa I just use a scalpel type blade and it works fine. But any half decent hobby type knife would also work fine.
