Thanks chaps for stopping by. Silvering, can be a bit annoying especially when you’ve taken all the normal precautions. I’ve even tried to remedy the silvering which had some success. However, some areas remain. So, time to attempt to over spray the affected areas. This is why I don’t bin used...

Thanks Steve and Tim. Now then what’s cool? I’m not cool, actually I find it really difficult to think of anything that is cool, except for shark mouth’s on aircraft. Who doesn’t appreciate a nice shark’s mouth on an aircraft? Granted, this looks a little strange, but its still a shark’s mouth.

On with the decals. Unfortunately, I’m having to deal with a bit of silvering, despite having a gloss coat. And he has a nose, with 37g of lead. I’m now starting to think I’ve overdone the excess ‘just to be sure’ weight.

Last one for the day. A coat of Klear has been applied by brush, ready for the decals.

And here’s the result. The paint work trick seems to have worked. I built up the layers of paint and then just when I thought maybe one more coat, I left it and went to bed. Now in the cold light of day, yes, that’ll do.

Thanks Mick, not quite in the same league as a certain F16 I can think of ! Work continues, the first part of the top coat has been applied. Ok, so what am I doing here? Well, I’m having a go at pre-shading with the top coat. A little odd, yes, will it work, maybe. However, if I don’t try to...

At last, actual, real paint. I’ve tried to modulate the white paint just to add a bit of interest. I’m posting from my phone so don’t know if the picture portrays that.

After many filling and sanding sessions, this could be the Venom’s final primer coat.

A touch more done. The kit rocket launcher rails look a bit clunky but it’s not a huge job to modify, but just makes things look a little better. Now then, primer. I’ve been using Stynylrez primer for a few years and really like the stuff. Not anymore. I can’t get this stuff through my ‘big’...

Nice one Jakko. Having posed the question, I found the following drawing. A bit like what the 'end of the line' Harriers had ?

Continuing with the canopy, with the inside masked, on with the paint. Masking the inside didn’t take too long. I basically just followed the outside, if I went a little bit wrong, it didn’t matter. Then these things. Wing strakes ? Or did I just make a word up? The kit item was way too chunky...

    Burgundy red or there abouts.

This is British Laylend Damask Red. Quite a common colour in the 70's / 80's.

Masking canopies isn’t my favourite task, but at least in 1:32 it’s a bit easier, that is until you remember you have to mask the inside as well for an open canopy. There’s nothing like doing a job twice.

Is anyone brave enough just to add the recommended amount of weight ? 30g the instructions say. Well 37, just in case.

I’ve got a feeling the primer coat is going to highlight a few little problems for me to deal with. However, for a 42/43year old mould, I can’t complain. A bit more has been done. Booms are on, fettling required, followed by the engine covers, again with a bit more fettling. No major surgery...

Well, I’m not sure what I’m building at the moment. It looks a bit sci-fi, it must be all that white plastic. But at least the cockpit fitted without any drama.

Well now, I didn’t get very far before some guests took over my room for Christmas. With Fluff (RIP) Lilly and Lottie installed, all spraying had to be suspended. Awhile later, after they had returned home with Dau No. 1, work could continue. All I’ve done is the cockpit, mainly tackling...

That’s it, pit done. I could keep adding bit and pieces, but I actually want to start spraying before my guests arrive for Christmas.
