    Colin M's Revell 1:32 Seafire Mk1b

Well gentlemen, if a friend should ever ask you to build this kit for him or her, disown them. You don't need this kit or that person in your life. Having said that, after many hours of filling and sanding, here we are. It's in flying mode, as the undercarriage was slightly even more rubbish...

Lee's P-51 Mustang GB. The chat thread.

I’m in. A picture is worth a thousand words. A completed build (still to be photographed) a tidy bench, and now, the next project, ready to go.

Colin M's Revell 1:32 Supermarine Seafire Mk 1b

Well I keep chipping away at this one, but seem to forget to update this thread. The Seafire is all painted, decaled and I’m now starting a bit of weathering. From what I’ve seen on line, these could be quite tatty aircraft. Now that surprised me.

Colin M's Revell 1:32 Supermarine Seafire Mk 1b

The green was completed last night. Tonight’s adventure will be getting grey through the airbrush!

Colin M's Revell 1:32 Supermarine Seafire Mk 1b

Well, just over a month on, and here’s where we are. There are a couple of seams that could use a bit more work, but this thing has sucked enough life force out of me, I think I’ll live with them. The sky underside was painted yesterday and tonight will be the first part of the camouflage...

What flew over your house (yesterday)

Well not yesterday but right now. G-TFSI 'growled' over my house.

Colin M's Revell 1:32 Supermarine Seafire Mk 1b

Generic Geoff the pilot is done. With just a bit of dry brushing and a splash of oil paints to stop him looking so clean cut, all finished with a bit of mat varnish. He's a chunky chap. I did have a test to see if I could add him to the pit after joining up the fuselage halves - no chance. But...

Colin M's Revell 1:32 Supermarine Seafire Mk 1b

Just a bit more done yesterday. I did say the cockpit was a bit sparse. And then Generic Geoff. He's slowly coming along.

Colin M's Revell 1:32 Supermarine Seafire Mk 1b

Well then, a little late to the bash, but I haven't been idle. No indeed not. Most of my bench time has been spent removing copious amount of extra plastic kindly provided for me by Revell. Although, to be fair to Revell, this mold started life back in 1967. The offending article. And the...

Completed Colin M's Trumpeter 1:72 Chinook

Hello everyone, Gardening duties have taken a lot of my time up, but with a few minutes here and there I've managed to finish the Chinook. The decals are a mix of spare and kit, so please accept my apologies for the few decals that are missing. Paint was MRP, followed by some shading with oil...

    Colin M's Trumpeter 1:72 Chinook

Cheers Tim. Those posts support the antenna. Which I’ve just installed.

    Colin M's Trumpeter 1:72 Chinook

Thanks for stopping by chaps, Decals done. Well sort of. I’ve raided the spare decals and used a few kit ones to get to this point. Now it’s time for a Matt coat, then the weathering begins.

    Colin M's Trumpeter 1:72 Chinook

As if primer wasn't enough, I've reached for the paint as well. Dark sea grey applied and masked ready for Dark green. Which looks a bit like this. I'll give it a few hours then a quick coat of varnish.

    Colin M's Trumpeter 1:72 Chinook

A nice shade of black. Shall we leave it there and call it ‘Special ops’

At last, primer, here we go.

    Colin M's Trumpeter 1:72 Chinook

Moving on with the modifications I’ve realised need doing. I replaced the antenna ‘thing’ with something a bit more in scale. Filling the hole is a bit more involved. It’s quite a complex curve, so I’ve been using bits of plastic card melted into place with TET, then filing it all down before...

    Colin M's Trumpeter 1:72 Chinook

Now then, things are moving on, just a bit. Unfortunately, the rail type thing (I think it’s some sort of antenna) is wrong for this early version of Chinook. A bit of work will be needed here. Another problem is shown below. That open section between the engines should be closed up, this...

    Drive it day 2022

Myself and daughter No 1 got the old jalopy out and set off for drive it day 2022. But not just wanting to drive around aimlessly, I needed a destination, so we set off for Tatenhill airfield near Burton on Trent. I've driven past here a few times but never stopped. Well, a nice cup of tea at...

    Colin M's Trumpeter 1:72 Chinook

Well now, despite all the good weather calling me outside, I have actually done a bit. Unfortunately, every seam needed work. Fill sand, fill sand etc. Masking that canopy took a few nights of ‘a bit at a time’ A mask set would have been a wise call here.

    Fancy a flight in a Hurricane ?

It's just £3875 for 30 minutes. I don't think that's such a bad price. Yes, it's beyond the reach of many people, but I think it has value for money...
