Pete's Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero 'Zeke'. Airfix, 1/72
Picked this up at the Hinckley show, after a bit of persuasion from Tony and Dave. The main reason I bought it though is that it was only a fiver. Slightly crushed box, but it's all there. I tried a bit of brush painting but wasn't happy with the results, so it's back to the airbrush. The black/white underside has been done, and I decided to airbrush the camo freehand, with a few pencil marks to help. Using and oldish set of Hataka paints. One of my favourite shops, Axminster Tools & Machinery, is closing their local branch in Nuneaton and having a sale - everything 20% off, including some stuff that's already discounted. I picked up a couple of cans of airbrush cleaner and this: Should make sanding a little less arduous. Pete -
1/72 Revell Hurricane
Fuselage together. I had to stick a bit of plastic in for the IP, and another behind the lagoon monster's head. I drew the line at cockpit sides though! The LM/pilot is supported by pins on the cockpit sided that go into holes in his shoulders - one fitted, the other is too short. Well, he's not...- stillp

IPMS at Midland Air Museum, Coventry, 25 June
As per title, the IPMS Coventry show is at the Midland Air museum on Sunday, 25th June. I believe you have to pay the normal museum entry fee but you get to wander around the museum to your heart's content. Pete- stillp

How's this? Doesn't show much on the upper surfaces, which I suppose shows that Sandgelb is a good match for desert sand. Interesting to see the build-up on hte leading edges of the trailing edge flaps. Does it need more? Pete- stillp

It wasn't exactly fun, but came out OK I think. There seems to be a consensus that the model needs some dust, so I'll squirt some of this at it later: if I don't like it I can always wash it off - that's one of the nice things about the Flory washes. Pete- stillp

Finished at last! An interesting camo scheme - this aircraft was originally in the standard RLM70/71 splinter camo, but was overpainted with Sandgelb. A nice kit to build, though the snake decals were a bit challenging! Also Airfix missed off the white background where the snake goes over the...- stillp

Most of the decals are on the starboard side as well as the upper wing surfaces: The snake decal was... interesting! The body is in two pieces, so I assumed (ass, you, me) that the front one went on first, then the balkenkreuz would butt up against the end of the snake decal, then the tail end...- stillp
