Speckles on! The airframe stencils still need doing though. I used the kit decals, they took a while to lift from the paper. The swastika came from a generic sheet of varying styles for different aircraft.- rickoshea52

Latest Acquisitions (2024)
Another visit to Aviation Megastore near Schipol airport and another helicopter for the stash. Lots of decal options. I did look at the Heller 1/48 Jaguar but they only had the gift set version with glue and paint, I only have a cabin bag and the box was a bit big too.- rickoshea52

It’s a winter camo scheme Doug. A white distemper type paint was applied over Luftwaffe aircraft on the Russian front. The bottom illustration is the scheme I am doing. A fair bit of progress since my last post. The cockpit is done and the fuselage put together but it needed a bit of persuasion, the surgery on the frame helped close the gap. Paint on now. Underside done and masked then the uppers done in the two tone Luftwaffe splinter. I’ve done this with soft lines because this will be under a faded white distemper. I’ve picked this off the shelf of doom. It stalled when I got to the glazing and couldn’t get a part to align. There was also a head scratcher with the landing gear. You can see the shock strut frame doesn’t quite look right. This means the drag brace won’t attach directly to the aft face...- rickoshea52

Doug's 1/48 Airfix Sea King
Outside Air Temperature (OAT) was one of them, not sure if there were two temp probes though. From memory, I think the standby compass was mounted on a small bracket on one of the front screens. Got these in the Airfix sale. Got some different plans for the EE Lightning and Sea King. Wanted to see how the F-35B looks and goes together, the instructions are interesting; Airfix now illustrate where to apply glue on each part at assembly.- rickoshea52

The cockpit is almost ready for closing up the fuselage. All painted, decals applied and a wash. Now...the fuselage. It fits together nicely with the exception of the underside just in front of the access panel; there’s a big gap. No amount of squeezing or clamps would close this, not even...- rickoshea52

My first major problem with this kit; a wonky duct. A bit of dry fitting shows I might get away with just cutting this off, the exhaust flap that covers it can be posed open or closed.- rickoshea52
