Andrew's 1/72 Airfix F-51D Mustang (South Korean Air Force)

Any chance of a close up of the canopy issue Andrew. Real sorry to hear about it. I have followed this build from day one and know the work that went into it. It is still a lovely result so well done for that, The only glue I ever use on clear perspex is the Micro Krystal Klear. Amazing stuff.

    Need Help With JU87B Stuka

Morning everyone. I need help with the interior of my Junkers JU87B Stuka that I am building in the Vintage Airfix GB. I have attached a photo of the interior which clearly shows two seats, one at the front for the pilot and what looks like a wire type seat for the rear gunner. For the life of...

Boatmans showtime phantom in 1/48th scale

I just had a thought Chris. Probably too late for this build but maybe for your 1/32 F4. With your lighting skills a couple of bright LEDs up the tail thrust tubes with some appropriately coloured cotton wool and hey presto.......After Burners.;)

Here are the finished photos of my Red Arrow. Hope you like. Nice reflection of the RAF decal in the wing on this one. Thanks for looking

1/32 Revell BAE Red Arrows Hawk

Well thats it, I am calling this one finished. 41/2 years ago I started this thread so thanks for being so patient. If anyone is thinking of building one of these then I strongly suggest you get your paint and all gloss coats on before you put the decals on. This will leave you in a position to...

1/32 Revell BAE Red Arrows Hawk

Nearly there now. 6 coats of gloss varnish applied. The canopy has had its decals put on. The thin grey stripe above the red was a pain to get on and still needs tidying with some paint. Both front and main canopy sanded down and now a good fit I think. I have gone for the closed canopy option...

Boatmans showtime phantom in 1/48th scale

Coming along nicely Chris. At 1/48 this is going to be a cracking model. In my youth I spent a lot of time around Phantoms. Dad was a Chief Tech in RAF and one of his squadrons was the 43 "Fighting Cocks" equipped with the F4 Phantom. We had them at Leuchars in Scotland and then went over to...

    Giving up on small parts

Is it just me or does anyone else just give up on trying to fit these small parts to the models. How the heck do you do it. I cant even hold the things as they stick to my fingers when I offer them up to the model. Tweezers are just a nightmare as if you can actually get them in the tweezers...

1/32 Revell BAE Red Arrows Hawk

Well I have a small break before the start of the next GB so I have done some work on the BAE Hawk. The nose has been repainted and the white fuzz decal repaired. Today I have fitted the two ejector seats and the undercarriage. I am determined to bring this one to a conclusion within the next...

    Steve's 1/48 Eduard FW190A-5

Well I am calling this one done chaps. As I am not the best at weathering models I have decided to give this one only a minimal application of weathering in the form of exhaust staining and that's it. Apart from the poorly fitting wings in the beginning of the build the model went together...

    Steve's 1/48 Eduard FW190A-5

These will be the last pictures of the build before the final reveal. I have fitted the propeller and spinner together with front and rear undercarriage. I have taken some artistic licence with this build by adding the spinner spiral decal, not normally featured on this model together with the...

    Steve's No More Spills" holder

Picture the scene. You are sat at your work bench. You are working on your model, the sun is shining, all is going well and life is good. In this state of euphoria you reach across the work bench for the icing on the cake, your cup of tea and Hobnob biscuit. Suddenly, your life is thrown into...

    Steve's 1/48 Eduard FW190A-5

This is what came on my sheet Tim. I have highlighted the Swastika. You apply the square bit first followed by the center decal to complete the cross

    Steve's 1/48 Eduard FW190A-5

So I made some progress with the decals today. In preparation I applied some gloss varnish over the matt camo. Not sure why but I had to give it 3 coats because the first 2 just seemed to get sucked into the paintwork like a sponge. Anyway the 3rd coat gave me a surface that I felt confident...

    Steve's 1/48 Eduard FW190A-5

More progress made. The bulk of the painting is now complete. Just on with masking and painting the rudder and lower engine cowling yellow then it will be varnish and decals. Don't know what I think of my mottling on the fuzz, I ended up making a template as my attempt at spraying them on didn't...

    Steve's 1/48 Eduard FW190A-5

Little more progress. Canopy attached and taped off ready for painting. Coat of primer applied after some very minor filling Next was some pre shading. Some white highlight patches and marker pen panel lines added. I have to do it this way because my airbrush just doesnt like fine spraying...

    Steve's 1/48 Eduard FW190A-5

Managed a good session on the work bench today. Started the day off with a cockpit and ended up with something resembling a Focke Wulf. No major issues which is why it went together quite quickly. First pictures showing the fuzz interior assembly going in Just as a matter of interest I used...
