    Bf 109 G-2 (Trumpeter 1/24)

This is looking fantastic steven , the paintwork is sublime , the masked markings look amazing and the squiggles are superb , not an easy thing to do even in this scale . The masking for the spinner spiral is one of those impossible tasks but youve nailed it . Loving this , cheers tony

    Eduard 1/48 Lavochkin LA7

Heres one I dug out of the loft , the oldest resident of my stash ( hence the state of the box !) . I bought this kit about fifteen years ago. Its the Weekend version of the Lavochkin LA 7 , a kit originally tooled by Gavia in 2001 but reboxed by Eduard first in 2006 in this guise and many...

    Airfix 1/72 BF109 e-4

I wondered about that too Joe , after looking into it I found out that the luftwaffe unit in question overpainted the swastikas on their aircraft for a while. Apparently their wing commander had married a Jewish girl and Goering wasnt happy so ordered the unit to remove their ace of spades...

    Airfix 1/72 BF109 e-4

Heres the excellent Airfix bf109e-4 in 1/72 . I didn't bother with a build thread as its one ive done before , needless to say it builds up well with a bit of care , only additions were Eduard etched belts and an aerial wire .

Academy 1/72 Fairchild A-10A Thunderbolt II

Looks excellent joe , no trace of the poor fit . I’m really tempted to get the Italeri kit again now , I had it in the Tamiya boxing and it looked a nice kit but for some strange reason i sold it on ?

    Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

Last bits done and its over the finish line . I didnt go mad with the chipping as it wouldnt have been that old or well used by this time ( pearl harbour ) so restricted it to a little on the wing leading edges and round the cockpit area ( avoiding the no walk areas ) Heres a few pics , more to...

    Tamiya 1/72 Junkers Ju87G-2 Stuka

Quick progress joe , looking fine . I like the cannon armed stukas , got the academy kit in the stash so this might just bring it to the front !

    Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

Control surfaces highlighted , undercarriage ,pitot and aerial fitted and final coat of matt applied . This was followed by a light exhaust staining and a bit of muckying up in general with a thinned black brown. All thats left is the aerial wire , nav lights and possibly a bit of light...

    Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M3 Zero

Love this joe , a beautiful little build and rarely seen markings . Ive seen the Airfix Kate in the surrender markings too , makes a nice change. These little airfix 1/72nds are really hitting the spot for me lately and you seem to be on a red hot building streak - fantastic stuff , cheers tony

    Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

Tail decals and wing walks now applied . The engine and cowling have both been fitted and the next step is highlighting the control surfaces joint lines - dont think I’ll be doing a full panel line wash though as they are quite deep and very noticeable already.

    Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

After getting out the compass cutter and a masking session it was ready for the hinomaru and fuselage band to be sprayed . Very pleased with how it turned out , no creep along the panel lines , just a tiny bit of overspray near the nose to touch up . Next is a coat of Klear then the decals ...

    Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

Airframe now painted ,a custom mix of Tamiya acrylics , the fabric control surfaces were done in a slightly darker shade as these were a noticeably different colour . Next up a coat of Klear then decals , maybe only a few though as I’m hoping to mask and spray the hinomaru ( meatballs)

    Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

Gunsight lens replaced with a tiny bit of holographic confetti cut to shape and ive done my favourite job in the whole world - masking up a multi framed canopy  . The canopy has now been glued on so next step is priming . What about the engine i hear you cry ! , that will be added last off...

    Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

Main airframe now altogether . No dramas just a tiny bit of filler needed to smooth the joint on the rear deck behind the cockpit opening. The section of the front upper fuselage had the gunsight lens moulded onto it in solid plastic so this has been cut off and will be replaced with a more...

    Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

Heres one I picked up when they had them in Aldi before xmas . Its a 2011 tooling so not the latest but is very nicely done nevertheless . The cockpit is well enough detailed , especially as the canopy only gives a closed option , only thing I added were some spare decal belts from the recent...
