    Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR

Got the stripey carbon fibre decal on the rear mudguard and some chequered stuff on the heel plates as a nod to the real bike.

    Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR

I've had a break from painting exhausts badly and got the engine stuck together tonight.

    Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR

This stuff looks the right colour. If I can't mix it with the paints I've got then I might give it a go.

    Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR

It turns out that purple is a really difficult colour to mix. I thought it would just be clear red with clear blue but I can't get it right.

    Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR

I feel like I've made a bit of progress tonight. I've tried to batch paint the main colours as much as I can so I've spent the evening cutting bits off the sprues and cleaning them up before sticking them to cocktail sticks with blu-tack and airbrushing. I think everything other than the...

    Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR

Not really sure how I'm supposed to paint these bits silver. Has anybody bothered trying? Should I do the silver first and then paint the bits around it? It's really tight to get into.

It looks like the carbon fibre is a kind of diagonal pattern on the rear mud guard and chequered on the front mud guard, so I've ordered some decaf sheets from Hiroboy.

I've also been researching photos of the actual bike. The exhaust shading is going to be interesting.

    Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR

I've not done much yet. I glued the engine, frame and swing arm together. I've also bought a pin vise so I've been drilling holes in everything I can. I've done the rear brake disc and the front chain sprocket etc.

    Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR

Despite saying I wasn't going to do another one until next winter I'd get nothing else done, I've gone and started this. Looks like another great kit. Hopefully I can do it justice.

That's pretty much it. The next photos will be in the completed section with it's clothes on.

    Tamiya 1/12 Ducati Desmosedici

I might finish this thing tonight if I don't hit any snags.

I think I'm much happier with them now. Much more subtle.

3rd time lucky. I'm trying these exhausts again after watching a YouTube tutorial. The guide I was using was one that is printed off from the Top Studio site about 12 years ago and I had the idea about building a motorbike model. I think some of the instructions were a bit lost in translation...

    Tamiya 1/12 Ducati Desmosedici

I think this is about as far as I can go until the front fork kit turns up in the post.

Thanks Jim, I've done a bit of assembly over the weekend and tried putting on some carbon fibre decals. It worked better than last time I tried it. Apart from a lack of knowledge, I think the old decal I had was a bit too thick. The new decal I got is much thinner and seems to respond well to...
