Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Thanks Jim, Sid is an English reference to whom????? I have decided on an ammo belt for the Jezail and from reference it has a pouch for the lead balls and some containers to hold the gun powder. The belt was done first... Then the pouch added after I reversed the buckle arrangement... The...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

These are new additions to the Dio... German prisoners being checked over. Quite a bit of surgery to get the arms right. The figure on the left needed a hip replacement and will need bigger feet. The arms are just attached and roughly puttied and waiting to be cured for fettling. A new head was...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Hi, Confidence in sculpting the second half of the coat was less stressful. Now I have two different figures marching in step from the same mold. On checking with references on the coat, it didn't have a belt but a short strip of belt and buttons to hold the coat in shape on the back... I need...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Thanks Jim, working on the coat just now was a challenge. Good thing I only mixed enough to work on one side of the coat 'cos it was starting to cure as I was doing the final shaping and folds. Here are the images before final detailing... Cheers, Wabble

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

As you will notice, I'm working on similar figures that I have to make look different from each other. Some are reposed and some have different clothing. This one is WIP and will have a long open coat for the left figure. This one needs ammo pouch slings for the right figure. And these are...

    Tamiya 1/12 Ducati Desmosedici

Funny you should be doing a Ducati when I'm sitting in front of one while waiting for my car at the workshop... Cheers, Wabble.

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Thanks Neil and Joe, I don't think it's that tiny...I didn't have anything to compare with the reference images so it may be a little exaggerated so it can be seen. Here's the comparison shot next to a blade and holder... It's about time I change the blade. Cheers, Wabble

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

If you see a wriggly thing on the right of the previous image...well that's the snake made from bent wire and putty... the wire is brass coated with metal primer so it doesn't oxidise and ruin the paint applied later Rough shaping the putty round the top and when cured will add more putty...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Thanks Richard and Scottie, I find doing desert dunes is quite challenging and nearly similar to doing snow on my Ardennes Dio. Both need clean smooth applications and undisturbed portions if you know what I'm trying to say. The bigger challenge is showing motion and kicked up sand. Anyway I...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi, Latest on the base, I have masked the top and sprayed gloss black for the sides and wooden base... I covered the plaster of paris with a coat of polyfilla and sculpted the ripple effect of wind blown desert over the dunes... More later... Cheers, Wabble

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Third crew member with sleeves done and extra winter face covers... And the fourth crew and one more crew member from the M36 with head turned and overalls added... I had only enough mixed putty for the front of the overalls. In two minds as to complete the bottom half of the figure as it's...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Hi, third crew member getting his jacket done...ran out of pre kneaded putty for the cuffs and scarf. I will part down his shoulder back that seems to protrude too much. The next batch of putty will be used to buff up the arms too. I can't wait to add a coat of primer to even things out 'cos...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi All, Working on the base obviously starts with a base which I made with 3/4 inch plywood edged with timber bidings. After sculpting a block of polystyrene using slicing motions with a blade cutter. I covered the surface with a roll of plaster of paris sheeting. It hardens very quickly so I...

Eehaw!!, a Donkey, a Bedouin and a Snake vignette

Hi All, additions to the Bedouin after I decided that he shouldn't show too much skin. His legs below his tunic was covered with putty erasing all the effort of shaving his legs. Looks rough now but was reshaped and folds smoothen out... Laid the figgies out to determine the amount of slope to...
