75mm, Xen and Yawa, futuristic bikers from Neko Galaxy

Those is rather slapdash - I stopped painting for a few months as real life intervened. On coming back to it I discovered i) lots of mould lines I'd overlooked, and ii) my painting had become really rather rusty. So I used this to get back into it, which made it very enjoyable, as there was no...

75mm, Xen and Yawa, futuristic bikers from Neko Galaxy

So this has been a long time coming (massively disruptive house move in progress - nowhere near completion even now). I'll put a proper set of pictures in the relevant Completed section.

    PaulinKendal destined for the dustbin?

I've been completely distracted from modelling for the past several weeks, with a major life-change in the offing. After twenty years happy residency in Kendal in the Lake District, this London boy is heading back down South. We're in the (slow, stressful) process of moving to East Anglia...

    Ganesha, hand-carved in Rajasthan

I'm a very lucky boy. I've just got back from a month in India, and had a fabulous time. As a bonus, I brought back this splendid sculpt of Ganesha, which I'm intending to paint. It was shrink wrapped, and when I removed the wrapping the figure smelt strongly of petroleum. I'm guessing it...

75mm, Xen and Yawa, futuristic bikers from Neko Galaxy

I've just started on these two for a simple vignette. I've already got into difficulty with the hoverbike. I got a half-decent finish with the airbrush, but failed to seal it with varnish. As a result, I've scraped away patches of the microns-thin layer of paint while blocking in her jeans and...

1/12th scale Kuton Figurines 'The Rocketeer'

So I dropped and broke this figure into numerous pieces as I was about to glue it to the base. I've stuck it back together again, but not touched up all the chipped paint - not sure it's worth the effort, but we'll see. Generally very pleased with the result (prior to breakage, that is).

1/12th scale Kuton Figurines 'The Rocketeer'

This figure is now finished. Unfortunately, as I carried it from one room to another I dropped it, and in trying to catch it I batted it across the room, causing much destruction. I've glued it back together again as best I can, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to spend energy touching up all...

1/12th scale Kuton Figurines 'The Rocketeer'

Here's where I am with the rocket pack. Some way to go still.

1/12th scale Kuton Figurines 'The Rocketeer'

This is coming along nicely. I'm torn over what colour to make the piping on her uniform. I think I'll leave the piping around the bib in white. But the rest, i really don't know. Red? Blue? Tan? I'm stuck at the moment. And I think the chrome beading on the helmet is OTT. I think I'll make...

    Flow Improver in rinsing cup

I just mean the pot of water you rinse your brush in every 30 seconds - this thing!

    Flow Improver in rinsing cup

Add five drops of Flow Improver to your rinsing water cup - do it now! I was struggling with adding Flow Improver, Thinner Medium and Retarder to my paint to achieve a smooth, opaque, flowing consistency - essential for detail work, of course. Generally that meant I was adding too much of...

    Liquid Chrome by Molotow

This is VERY rough - Vallejo Skin Wash ink over brush painted Molotow. I'm going to redo it, now I know what I'm after.

    Liquid Chrome by Molotow

Here's Molotow Chrome brush painted on a model I did a while back.

    Liquid Chrome by Molotow

Chrome is very resistant to being painted over. I may reprime and start again as I think it'll be very difficult to neatly outline the lenses.

1/12th scale Kuton Figurines 'The Rocketeer'

Just started on this lovely sculpt. And her handgun, a Mauser 'Broomhandle' with a 20 round Schnellfeuer magazine. I think. These paints used so far (plus B+W).

    Liquid Chrome by Molotow

It's really bizarre - I use the exact same method. Upload images as attachments, then insert 'Large' versions. Works every time - apart from this time!

    Liquid Chrome by Molotow

I know achieving good Chrome finish is a vexed issue, so I thought I'd show what Molotow's Liquid Chrome looks like when airbrushed. This is after a single pass. I'm probably going to paint over all of it except the goggle lenses, so I wasn't worried about imperfections elsewhere (tbh...

1/10th scale RN Estudio, New Year and Oracle Witch

It must be said that the volumes of paint being used are really minuscule. I block painted in the main colours in acrylics first: As a result, the oils cure really fast - a couple of days sitting on a radiator and they're done. (In fact, one frustration with oils is that, unlike acrylics, I...

1/10th scale RN Estudio, New Year and Oracle Witch

Just finished these two. The left hand bust is in acrylics, the right hand one in oils. I wasnt really invested in the subject matter, so I treated them as practice pieces - you can probably see the remnants of 3D printed supports on the right hand bust. These were left mainly...

    Making chilli sauce

So, I thought I should update this thread. This year's marmalade making is underway, and the pickled onions have nicely matured: Not to be eaten together, natch! And I must update on the fruity fermented chilli sauce - it went pear-shaped and I had to bin it! Not sure why, but as Tim Marlow...
