    Gern's 1/72 PST PMZ-2 Fire Engine

There's quite a few guys in this GB doing amazing stuff with research and adaptations/scratching on their kits. Sorry to say, I gotta do all sorts of stuff just to get mine built. I cut that bit of brass rod for the front axle the same length as the plastic bit supplied. You can see it's not...

    PJ's P-51 Mustang

Both me and PJ started today - and made exactly the same progress:

    Gern's P-51 Mustang

Little bit of progress: This is a true mini Group Build as PJ has done exactly the same with his kit!

    PJ's P-51 Mustang

I'm doing PJ's build thread as he doesn't have access to any sort of suitable device. We picked one of the Tamiya versions as they seem fairly simple to build and shouldn't throw up any problems. This is the one: Apologies for the poor pics. The 'shakes' are back.

    Gern's P-51 Mustang

Finally getting round to starting my build. I've already posted box & sprue shots in the chat thread and I'd guess that every man and his dog has seen one or other of the Tamiya kits so I won't repeat them here. My grandson PJ is also having a go at this GB so I'll be starting another thread...

Paint racks... what you using ?

I knocked up these from a strip of MDF about 75mm wide. As you can see, the paints are three/four deep which means finding the colour you want is a PITA. Short of expanding the unit to three/four times its size - I don't have any extra space to do that - there's no way around it though...

    PJ's Italeri 1/35 Demag D7 with Flak 38

Hi folks. This is PJ's (my grandson) entry to this GB. Apologies but I got a bit carried away with all the excitement and got PJ to paint the tyres before I took pics! Box Sprues Sample instruction pages (doesn't look hugely complicated)

    Gern's 1/72 PST PMZ-2 Fire Engine

OK. Up and running. Minor progress. Got 90% of the chassis done. You'll notice from the pics that the fire engine part of this truck is supported by a number of struts. Unfortunately, some of these parts are broken or missing. I've already had to supply the prop shaft using some brass...

    I'm back!

It could've been better. My car went in for it's MOT on the 1st of this month and it failed big time - four new coil springs, rear brake pipes and four new tyres needed! I wasn't going to spend that much on a motor only worth £1500 at best after the repairs. You ever tried finding, funding...

    I'm back!

Hi guys. Did you miss all my usual inane drivel the last few weeks? Not to worry, now I'm finally back up and running on the 'net, I'll soon catch up!

    Site access

Hi guys. Just been informed that my Sky broadband won't be set up until 8th August. I lose my existing Virgin services on 1st August so won't be able to keep in touch. I'll be back though.

Lee's P-51 Mustang GB. The chat thread.

Found this in the stash: So unless I do summat stoopid - like sell it to clear some space on my stash shelves - I'll have a go at this GB. Hope the box picture is OK. I'm sure Bonnie is only trying to help! PS Bonnie wasn't hiding among the stash. She came in from her regular evening...

Cleaning masking fluid from paint brushes.

Back again folks! I want to use some Vallejo masking fluid for fairly large areas. I assume I can use an ordinary paint brush to apply it, but how on Earth do I clean my brushes afterwards?

    Varnish questions

Hi guys. Some serious help needed her please. My grandson PJ and I are both working on an aircraft build. PJ has the Tamiya Spitfire Vb and I have the Tamiya Rufe floatplane. Base colour has been applied to both. PJ used an A/B with a mix of Tamiya colours while mine was painted with a hairy...

Time for a bit of a rant!

Those of a nervous disposition should look away now: Any of you guys remember the concept of 'customer service'? If you have dealt with our John, you will know exactly what it means, but: I've been a customer with Virgin for my Broadband, TV, home 'phone and mobile services for 25 years. Last...

    Ultrasonic cleaners

Hi guys. I've had major problems keeping my A/B clean recently so I'm looking for an ultrasonic cleaner. There are plenty on ebay but they seem to fall into two main categories - cheap and nasty (I had one of these a few years ago. It only worked about half a dozen times before the switchgear...

    Gern's 1/72 PST PMZ-2 Fire Engine

Hi guys, Ian's asked me to kick this one off with my proposed build so here goes: This is what I'm hoping to do. It's an old kit and apart from one build of a truck towing an AA gun I saw Ron do some years ago, I know nothing about the manufacturer. He had no major issues so fingers crossed...

Airbrushing Humbrol varnishes - help needed please

Hi guys. Like the title says, I want to airbrush both gloss and matt Humbrol varnishes and need some help. I have an H&S Ultra brush with a 0.4 nozzle so: What pressure should I spray at? What should I use to clean my A/B when I've finished? I've noticed a white substance has settled to the...

    Half track GB suggestion.

Does anyone fancy a half-track group build? I don't remember seeing one before (with my memory though, that doesn't mean a lot!) and there's plenty of choices available. Because I know open suggestions like this could lead to questions like: Would a Kettenkrad count? What about a Mk 1 WWI tank...

    PJ's Tamiya 1/35 T-62A

OK guys. Little bit late, but PJ's finally got this done. Couple of issues with the finished item. Clearly PJ has not added the fuel tanks at the rear. That's because we got fed up trying to get the seams sorted on the tanks. Those in the know will also spot a couple of the searchlights are...
