Lee's Rocket/Missile GB, Oct - Dec 2024 Welcome and chat

I have a question about the model I was planning to build for this GB. I purchased the model off Ebay, not realising it had been already started. It was clearly stated that this was the case but I failed to read it and was seduced by the cheap price. Anyway I've checked the kit and all seems...

    Airfix 1/72 Junkers Ju87B-1 Stu,e

It's never to late. In April last year I parked this build as it was frustrating me. 16 months later with my mojo hopefully resorted on another build I took it off the shelf to give it another go. I've removed the cockpit which had freehand painted badly, stripped off the paint using IPA and...

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

I've finished the weathering. I went for a dusty and dirty look. I used a combination of Vallejo washes and pigments and some of there streaking grime. Just the figures now.

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

I'm slowly working through the weathering. Lots more to do. I've completed the base and added a few figures to give it some perspective. I obviously need to paint these.

If you don't mind, I'm going to join with this model. It promises to be an interesting GB.

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

I've managed to paint the tracks. I used a mix of 50% brown, 40% nato black and 10% red. I'll weather them later with the rest of the tank. They were very difficult to attach and I needed lots of superglue. They're not perfect by a long way and with a few flaws but they're my first ever...

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

Slow but steady progress. I did a dark grey pin wash and then an overall black/brown wash. I've also got a base for it, which I'll paint up. I feel like I'm cheating with this after seeing all the scratch built bases on this site but I have to start somewhere. The instructions propose each...

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

Everything is attached now other than the tracks which I'm plucking up the courage to paint. I've started applying washes etc to the tank but have a long way to go with this and the weathering. This is the part I struggle with, and tamk tracks which I've never done before.

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

A bit more progress. The allied stripes have been completed and decals added and the remaining parts are ready for priming. I've also assembled and dry fitted the tracks. They now need painting. I've had to add some tape on the back for now to stop them from unclipping from each other. I can...

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

And the tedious job of cleaning up and assembling the tracks is ongoing. I've had about half a dozen track pieces which will not connect as the pin holes are broken but there are spares so I think I'll be okay.

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

A bit more colour added. Three brush coats in total of olive drab, then a bit of colour to the guns then started the Allied markings. I need to let the white cure before I mask up for the red coat. It's a slow build, mainly because I don't have alot of bench time at the moment, but it's a very...

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

Finally got a bit of bench time and made some progress. I gave a single brush coat of Olive drab to the various components and then attached them. Once this had dried fully, I'll do more brush painting of the same colour and then probably apply a light brown wash or something like that. I've...

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

I've completed the main parts now and primed them. I've just got to decide on the colour now as I've seen so many interpretations of the Green/Brown colour used for this and other WW1 tanks. I've primed with a rattle can but will be brush painting as I don't have an Airbrush. I've also...

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

I haven't had any bench time for a while but yesterday managed to assemble to left running gear. The final photos are dry fitted for now as I need to paint the inside, most of which will be hidden when it's fully assembled and the tracks are on. So far, no problems other than a few fiddly...

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

Haven't had bench time for ages as my modelling room (the spare bedroom) has mostly been occupied by visitors. That's the problem with having an Australian wife. Her friends and family come en mass and stay for quite a while. And they haven't gone yet. Not that I'm complaining as we have loads...

Valerons Mk. A Whippet - Meng 1/35 scale

My modelling has not been going well of late and I've failed to complete numerous builds. I've had a rest for a few months and will now give this one a go. I've never made Meng model before. The sprues look nice and clean and this will be my first time with so many track parts. Wish me luck...

Valerons Airfix 1/72 Gloucester Galdiator Mk. I

All primed and I've painted the underneath of the aircraft and attached the engine and some of the engine cover. I was then planning to paint the camouflage colours on the side and top but am struggling to connect the top panels of the engine cover. They just won't meet without a large gap. This...

Valerons Airfix 1/72 Gloucester Galdiator Mk. I

I've completed of the main body of the aircraft and am preparing to prime it. I'll be using a rattle can. I'll then move on to painting. I'll be attaching the top wing after painting as I'll be brush painting and would struggle to paint between the wings. The model has gone together well so far...

Valerons Airfix 1/72 Gloucester Galdiator Mk. I

I've finished the cockpit. It is pretty basis but went together with no problems. Now to get the pilot on board and close this up. I'm hoping that the previous dry fittings will make this seamless.

Valerons Airfix 1/72 Gloucester Galdiator Mk. I

I started today with some cleanup and fixing a few pieces and some dry fitting. I've decided the best strategy is for me to paint the top wing separate to aircraft and attach it afterwards. I'd struggle to brush paint the wings if they were fully attached. Next step is to organise paints and...
