Latest Acquisitions (2023)
Here are a few of the many Items received from our good Mr. Merryweather......they are "HOT" off the 3D printer and yes all are 1-87 scale. Included in the pic. a German 75.mm panther round, U.S. 2.36 in. Rocket launcher (Bazooka) minus the holographic sight however, ;) German Pioneer tools... -

Current progress on paint repairs and adjustment of camo pattern. also some detail painting of the tracks.....tried something new, Tamiya panel line accent (brown) I washed the tracks with this stuff then when dry I went over them lightly with Steel lacquer (Testor's) and then did a little...- Mini Me

Last update before paint........cable assembly is completed and located, outside road wheels are deflashed and also ready. The antenna stays off till after the paint and cammo are completed...been stabbed in the past too many times while handling.;)- Mini Me

Here's the last "tidbit" I'm monkeying with before I can throw some paint at this.......the scale cables were way too small so I upgraded to six strands of twisted speaker wire and of course, the old standby, wine bottle foil for the swaged fitting to holds it all together.- Mini Me

Final update of the day......I got the skirt brackets installed and turned an antenna mast and dry fitted it. I also sanded the gun shield and aperture a little more to reduce the overly coarse appearance. Tomorrow I'll start on the stowage and tow cable along with the pioneer tools, jack etc.- Mini Me

Spent the morning adding the block off plates for the driver's second periscope and the Panther A antenna location on the rear engine deck. I had a "screening" session this evening and managed to get all of them roughed in....naturally there will have to be some smoothing of the edges before they are permanently fixed in place. I also had to do away with the deep fording air intake on the rear engine cover.- Mini Me

Mission accomplished......as I said earlier the corners aren't as round as the prototype but I think it serves the purpose. I'll try and refine them a bit more before I give it a coat of Mr. Surfacer 500 and the stiff brush treatment to simulate cast armor.- Mini Me

Next up was the one piece barrel....a stand out feature on most early models although, there was comingling of stocks, as two piece barrels can be seen on both early and late configured vehicles. The next challenge will be to reconfigure the cast housing around the gun shield to the non bolted...- Mini Me
