Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Thanks for the explanation, Paul. One up my sleeve Dave. I've started to add life to the water. I'm using clear silicone and 'working it' with a nail..... Cheers. Ron

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Bridge fixed and 'road' surface mucked up. Cheers. Ron

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Thanks Tony and Graeme. I suspect this build has run its course so I might as well just post the salient stages. I made a wall from foam board and fixed it either side of the bridge to stop idiots falling into the water. Cheers Ron

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Pushing quietly on..... I've covered the polystyrene beads. I used watered down PVA and floor sweepings sprinkled on. The strange white bits have been left devoid of muck. This will allow the two ends of the bridge to sit in, rather than on the surface. Thus avoiding a ridge. The...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Thanks Andy. :thumb2: I've made a small, rough, random board platform to allow access to the wheel and sluice gate (I have yet to make the gate) Painted a bit more stream bed too.... Cheers. Ron

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Update.... I've added a final step under the bridge. This sort of evens out most of the steps. Also, I've started to colour the stream and the banks. I've made the wheel support and mill race from bits of foam board stuck together and started the painting process. You might just spot...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

So she ups and sez. "How are the poor little fish going to get up that high step?" Sad to admit, but she's right..... If I had tried to remove the 5mm from the base of the bridge to accommodate the extra thickness of new fish step, the structure would have probably fell apart. So I made the...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

A couple of days ago my wife informed me the model needs a bridge. More to the point she wanted one! Her observation was quite right. A watercourse, no matter how small and knackered, has to have a bridge, doesn't it? Now't fancy, I've made it from off cuts of foam board and a couple of...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

A very belated thanks boys! Sorry for the delay in responding. I now find I need to push this build to a conclusion so on we go at a rather obscene pace...... I had hoped to confine the whole model to A4 size, but I've just run out of room, so radical alterations are in order. This was the...

U.S. 101st PIR 'Screaming Eagles' A quick trip across Europe. 1944/45

A lovely set of figures to work with. I've added the helmet netting and weapon straps. The flag is made from a bit of paper and hand painted. The three scene 'extras' are made up from dioramas I've presented on here a while back. Behind the lines and surrounded, any mode of transport will...

Master Box 1/35 US. 101st Paratroopers. France 1944....and a soul in need.

'specially for you, 453. I snapped off the woman's wrist and turned it through 180 degrees. Then I re-shaped and painted the 'Brick' to resemble a crusty bit of bread. Easy fix and well worth it. The figures look far better now and thanks for prompting a re- think. :thumb2: Jim and Dave...

Two more...... Sorry if it is all getting a bit repetitious, chaps, but there are two more. Then that's it. Cheers. Ron

He now has sensible soles to his jump boots! I painted them and then cut a rough pattern with my scalpel. Cheers. Ron

Thanks for the encouraging comments chaps. :thumb2: Sorry Dave, ' 90 degree twice' is a permanent affliction. There is, however a potion that can be rubbed into the bent bits to help relieve the symptoms. Next time you lance your cat's boils, save the resultant drippings, send it to me and I'll...

Paul and Joe, thanks for the encouraging posts. :thumb2: Plenty of seats at the front, Joe. Here's the first taxi off the rank. I made his helmet camouflage from a bit of nylon supermarket onion bag. The 'tassels' are made from strips of paper suitable coloured, as are the chin and weapon...

Thanks chaps. After a pleasant day or so, here are the stuck together figures. Just look at the baby's face. So small......Cracking bit of sculpting. Great fit, with very little cleaning up, mainly very faint seam lines. There are even little indents sculpted into the plastic to allow for...

One set of the above. Excellent sculpting. Why folks change heads on some figures is beyond me. Rather like aftermarket and P.E., it's a must do, I guess. A bit sparse in clobber, so I intend to add 'Things' from my bag of spare goodies and also make some too. Made a start on a...

Thanks chaps. Doesn't it annoy you when the wife is right? Mind you, I should be used to it by now, because she always is! Update. One water wheel recipe.... Imagination. Pencil Plastic card A bit of sprue Four bits of summat plastic for the spacers Polystyrene glue Kiddies paint Scalpel...
