    Mick's Scania S770 4x2 Italeri 1/24.

This really is the kit that just keeps on giving. It’s giving me headaches, nightmares and the ability to get very constructive with swear words. It really isn’t one for people who like rapid progress but like to get the parts together so they look good. So far every two part piece has required...

    Mick's Scania S770 4x2 Italeri 1/24.

Engine 90% complete now just some detail painting then time to attach the fan and radiator. The slight twist in the frame reared it's head again but with some strong glue, strong language and clamps I got the engine to sit where it should. Parts of the steering linkage to fit then carry one with...

    Fill ins

As you know when I'm stuck waiting on a build I like to paint up single miniatures to keep my hand in. These normally end up stuck on other posts so I'm starting this thread so I can keep adding to it. The only problem is the figure category but as most are sci fi it will sit here. First up are...

    Mick's Scania S770 4x2 Italeri 1/24.

Swmbo is away for a few days and I get dumped on nights to cover some holidays but I shall make the most of it, Still battling with parts on the older sprues as you can see from the pic, but it adds to the challenge. The engine is progressing nicely, not a brilliant fit and lots of parts to add...

    Mick's Scania S770 4x2 Italeri 1/24.

No progress due to 12 hour days but these arrived in the post today. Modern trucks appear to have black pipes with just the ends coloured but that’s easily sorted

    Mick's Scania S770 4x2 Italeri 1/24.

Got the ladder frame chassis together, it had a slight twist but managed to sort that with some weights while the glue was curing. Behind it you can see the start of the rear axle and suspension. These look like older mouldings from other models of the Scania. The fit hasn’t been great so I’ve...

    Mick's Scania S770 4x2 Italeri 1/24.

And we’re off. First job removing all the unwanted items from the sprues that are not required in this kit due to new parts. Then work starting on the chassis, got to take my time as I really would like all wheels to be on the ground (at the same time )

    Mick's Scania S770 4x2 Italeri 1/24.

Day early but not sure I’ll get time tomorrow. Here’s the victim for the GB Italeri limited edition Scania. Not sure now about the conversion now as there are no uk reg numbers so will save it for another kit. Here are the contents of the box plus my go to reference book by George Dent, also a...

Tamiya 1/72 Mitsubishi Zero ( Andy’s Japanese aircraft GB)

Enjoyed putting this one together but some of these parts and decals are just so small. The aircraft was the mount of Major Saburo Shindo. As a lieutenant he was a squadron leader in the attack on Pearl Harbour and is credited with sending the Tora Tora Tora message that the raid had been...

    Tamiya 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M3 3a Zero

Final push now. I have a couple of 1/72 Bandai models but i think I'm done with tiny models. Added a bit more chipping and attached the very fragile wing mounted machine guns. The model has had another clear coat in readiness for a bit of dirt. Then undercarriage and aerial wire and that's it.

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

A birthday present from the Mrs, forgot all about it with my birthday being during my holiday. I'd really enjoyed the X wing build so wanted a buddy for it, I'll paint this up in the same colours.

    Tamiya 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M3 3a Zero

The gaffer went out with a pal this morning leaving me some free time when I got up. Well I say free time, when I'd walked the dog, finished some shopping and cut the grass again :smiling5: I got a clear coat on and dried, got some decals on and had a look at the start of the chipping. Quite a...

    Tamiya 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M3 3a Zero

Post holiday progress, both main colours now applied, hoping to get some more progress made after my night shift tonight. the blobs under the paint are for the start of some chipping and not a disease the thing has caught.

    Back from the holiday

2 weeks in the sun has just flown by, high 30’s every day including my birthday, I was melting, thank goodness for lots of drink So much to do now, got my Zero to finish before the truck build starts and some inconsiderate git wants me back at work tomorrow night. No rest for the wicked

    Tamiya 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M3 3a Zero

Think this might be the last update before I hit the sun. Undercoat applied, some strategic areas sprayed silver for chipping. All the remaining small parts have been brush painted.

    Tamiya 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M3 3a Zero

A bit more progress today and the build is almost complete. I know it’s a Tamiya kit but the fit has been superb, virtually no gaps at the wing roots or underneath, hopefully it will at least make it into primer before I jet off.

    Tamiya 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M3 3a Zero

So who thought 1/72 was a good idea? Ok guilty I need to make some progress before I head off for some sun next week so here’s where I am. Cockpit is built up with the PE added, some parts are ridiculously small so they’re not getting used. I drilled out the holes in the pilots seat and also...

Perry 28mm Union Cavalry all done

Really enjoyed painting these up, but back to single figures now when I have the time with three GB’s to work on. Many thanks to those of you who followed along.
