Only just super glued Cadburys foil wrapping on the back of the tiny rear view mirror. Here are the two tiniest scratches I've made...gun sight and the rear view mirror for the Hurricane. You can just see the gold backing on the rear of the mirror... Just a comparison for size... They will...

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Hi guys, Yay!! I managed to mate the curved top that I carved to the three panels for the front canopy. Just waiting for the glue to cure then I'll cut and sand off the protruding edge, polish and then drop future over it and draw the excess with tissue. The joints are where the frame panel is...

Thanks Paul and to leviate the frustration I turn to humouring myself like here...while working on the canopy I did a Princess Leia with rolled blu tac to hold the main canopy to help with adjustments to the panels of the front canopy... These are the components for the front canopy... Cheers...

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Hi, After filling up the hole I fixed the outboard Hispanos on... Then I added exhaust deflectors using thin plastic strip on both sides. This particular aircraft has it and not all were modified with it. I don't know if it was a standard fixture in later models. I think loosing the front...

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

I have decided to scratch the front canopy having armed with a reference canopy from the Hasegawa kit my friend gave me. I started by shaping the top curved section from a plastic alligator clip...example below... And the front and side panels from the sheet of transparency. I hope this...

Basically this is how I mask my canopies if anyone is asking... I simply cut the overlaps with a new sharp blade as the tape becomes the guide. Cheers, Wabble

    Abe was here.

The USS Abraham Lincoln was in town basically docked at Klang Port just a short drive away. Unfortunately for 9/11, they have ceased having civilians the opportunity to go on board only military personnel are allowed. Could have gone to see it but from a far, sadly I had no time. Friends have...

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Getting it to look like this just took me 45 minutes but finding bench time took days. Apologies for the slow progress. Now it's adding the engraved panel lines and attaching to the Hurricane. Cheers, Wabble

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Today I just drilled three holes to begin the process of sculpting the air scoop opening. With a burr I will enlarge the aperture by removing the access between the three holes and carefully working towards the lip. Busy day so just the three holes for now. Cheers, Wabble

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

While the front was curing I added the hinged lid to the back... At this angle you can see the excess putty I have left on the scoop for sanding off. It is always better to have slightly more than an exact amount of putty shaped for sanding to shape. This way I can get the shape right. Cheers...

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Okay, puttyied the front portion with the scoop. Will let it cure before drilling the aperture. Thought of forming the aperture with card or thick foil but decided this was easier. Only thing now is to get the taste of the putty off my tongue having moistened the tooth pick while sculpting. A...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

With little or no time for a new diorama, I have decided to rehash an old diorama which has never been entered in the Penang MALCOM competition. Some of you may have seen it before when I posted some finished dioramas in the past. There's quite a lot to spruce up all-round including the...

    Oink Oink

I would like to share this with dog lovers. Just a while back my wife picked up this little thing that was fumbling and crawling all over a car park field in the dark. At first we thought who would leave a piglet in a field? Because that was what it looked like when we saw it...big head, pointy...
