A break from RAF stuff with a cuppa 38(t)

Adding texture to the exhaust ith TET and a stippling brush. Going to use acrylics on this, because I have this set of paint on a shelf, contains 1/2 size bottles of paint, including primer and satin varnish. 4 varying shades of grey for modulation. But I'm not using the primer included and...

A break from RAF stuff with a cuppa 38(t)

Been playing with stowage, not much bench time this weekend. Decided to ditch the resin jerrycans as the plastic ones are just a bit crisper, and believe it or not they're both the same size......so the plastic handles would of fit the resin cans nicely. Removed one of the built in stowage bins...

    Pacific Carrier/Aircraft chat thread.

After a day off work due to a migraine that the drugs didn't touch I'm now going to settle down and watch this on Amazon.

A break from RAF stuff with a cuppa 38(t)

Home safe and sound, time to have a look at this resin stowage. Plenty there, though it's not all getting used. Legend would have you leave off the stowage bins on the fenders, but I've already glued them in place. A few of the jerry can handles have broken, I might use the plastic ones from the...

Looks like I'm for the bar the rest of the night...... Need to get it home to match up the Legend Stowage kit.

One track run done, no gaps at the end of the run either, always a risk with link and length. Hopefully it will all stay together when I remove it back off the hull, no wheels glued in place.

A break from RAF stuff with a cuppa 38(t)

First 4 steps complete, flying together with very little room for error, pay attention at step 1 to follow the recommended order of assembly. Out of the two marking options, both in Russia, one has a bow MG and one doesn't, so not much in the way of options to be aware of while building.

A break from RAF stuff with a cuppa 38(t)

Sprue shots. Turret parts, some nice crisp rivits and a single piece slide moulded main gun. Hull top, again lots of crisp detail, and a not too shabby commander figure. Road wheels, some track and some stowage, 2 of these. The rest of the link and length track, nice sag on the top run...

8 wingy things on the trot with the last 3 being WW2 RAF builds I've decided to take a wee break with a wee tank. I have the Legend stowage set to go on this as the only AM stuff I'll be adding. Plan is to build this in the hotel Monday and Tuesday night this week then paint it when I get home.

Karls RAF journey PT.3 Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Mk.Vb

Dull coat applied and canopy masking removed then flying base firmly attached. Just a few detailing bits to pick out then some staining with watercolour pencils.

So to show the decals, these are two part with a heavy white backing decal that goes down first, except it doesn't go down, it almost like a vinyl sticker, lots of sol used and then the colour added on top. These colour parts are very fine, and as you can see from the walkway stencil, that I...

Karls RAF journey PT.3 Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Mk.Vb

So I found this in my stuff, forgotten I had it so thought I would give it a go. It seems to have a bit more surface tension and beads up a bit more than the Flory stuff. Cleans off easily, but seems to come off a bit too easy, lifting out of panel lines that run in the direction you wipe...

Going to give these a go, reviews from others here are mixed but I'll see how I get on.

So despite the conditions in my shed tonight I did a bit more and am ready to spray clearcoat before weathering. My decal-fu has really let me down on this, not usually an area I struggle with, even the rather large rather heavy decals on the F-15C I completed last year lay down for me. Ah well...

Tora,Tora,Tora !! Andy's WWII Japanese Aircraft GB: Chat thread.

As I have a box of Zeros with the same title as the GB I'm going to have to build at least one of these. Hmmm wondering does a dual boxing break the "one subject per thread rule"? If not I may do a tandem build. (I'll need to buy paint.)

    Removing masking "ridges"

Despite my Tamiya decals on my current build not conforming to the actual model, one place they did conform was the slight ridge left by the edge of the masking film I used for the camoflage patterning. Thinking of giving these a light rub down with some micromesh in future and I'm just...
