    Langy's, Academy 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero.

So, here we are again, and a tiny update, spent most of the morning doing touch ups on detail parts... Oh and she did fall in to a pot of Flory Dark Wash... after a bit of clean up she came out looking like this... (not bad for saying there's at least four coats of paint and 'varnish' on...

    Langy's, Academy 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero.

What began as a quick 'I'll put the common marking decals on' quickly became a longer full decal session, I've gotta say I'm impressed with the Academy decals on this kit, they're perfectly registered, micro thin and lay down perfectly.. with only a bare waft of micro set.... no need for...

    Japanese I-400 Submarine Aircraft carrier..

Just found this on You-tube whilst searching for info on my Zero build... and interesting and potentially dangerous idea that could have changed the war against Japan by the Japanese Jap floaty sinky flying thingy

    Langy's, Academy 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero.

Well after sitting on this for a couple of days the colour just didn't look right... (it was way to 'caramelly'...if that's even a real word).....so back into the shed she went, a bit of a play with some colours and I've ended up with this, it's a bit lighter but in the flesh it has a more grey...

    Langy's, Academy 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero.

Had a blast with a touch of colour today, good ole Tamiya XF-76, Tamiya XF-60 and a few drops of white for good measure...(65/30/5) thinned to a naughty 60/40 mix, Then added some highlights and sun bleaching with a touch more white added to a 80/20 mix of the same colour, thinned to...

Well, I'm back with a small update... bench time has been some what restricted due to being crazy mad busy at work, so I managed to get an hour or so last night to throw a bit of paint at it... First up... silver undercoat... using Vallejo Model air Aluminium thinned to a cheeky 50/50 mix...

And finally I'm back at the bench, (after Mrs L has finished abusing my good nature with all manner of gardening type crap tasks to keep me out of mischief, so had a couple of hours at the bench , and managed to get the wings fitted, and the engine 99% built and fitted into the cowling...I've...

Had a play with the engine cowling colour today, another minefield...lol...(it's currently drying...and will need a gloss coat to bring out the shine)... crikey the zoomed image don't half show up any dust on it... Anyhoo, just for Reference, all Mitsubishi Aircraft had a cowling colour that...

    Langy's, Academy 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero.

Not too much done today...(Mrs L is abusing the fact it was a bank holiday to drag me all around the local Wickes. B&Q and Screwfix....).. so i just messed around with the various panels that should...(ish) be Aotake coloured... (for anybody that's gonna be spraying this colour, don't mess...

    Langy's, Academy 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero.

A bit more work on the cockpit, some decal work, a few touch ups with paint..(red, yellow and silver bits added to break up the overall 'flat' green colour) and knocked up some seat belts...they're not accurate per se but they look close enough.....I'm now calling this bit done... on to the rest...

    Langy's, Academy 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero.

Is that as well as the monthy cheque ? And ....... Painted,...(and yes it was with a hairy stick on certain bits)... added an oil wash to dirty it up a tad...(although the Zero's used at Pearl Harbour were all relatively new so I'm thinking they would show much 'use and abuse'), As you can...

And we're off...finally !! lolz Cockpit 99% built.. Nearly ready for a splash of paint...although there seems to be a complete black hole surrounding the actual cockpit colour...I'm probably going with Tamiya's cockpit green.. lightened up a tad....unless anybody else knows the correct / close...

Well guys, Dad has carried out his 'final journey', and now the reality of 'normal life' begins to settle back into things..just one final thing to deal with 'the scattering of his ashes' in his home town of Scarborough... So I managed to have some down time and made more progress with this...

Langy's 'The Mekon', 1/16 scale figure by Mooncrest models.

Well, In between 'Legal stuff' today I had an attempt at shading the lilac, trust me it's more pronounced in 'real' life...(the inside of the sleeve shows it best) but it'll do for now. colour enhanced to pick out the details,
