Langy's 'The Mekon', 1/16 scale figure by Mooncrest models.

Thanks for the nice words and thoughts guys, It's still 'raw' but practical arrangements are helping to 'settle' things in my head..(funny thing is though, I realised yesterday I hadn't eaten anything for three days...) Needed a bit of time yesterday to 'switch off' from things, so I thought...

    Cyprus Shackleton's

The last time I was in Cyprus...way back in '96 we flew into RAF Akrotiri, It was awesome to spot an old F-4 Phantom sitting as a gate guard, Also whilst waiting for our helicopter transport on the airbase we were lucky to have a U-2 roll down the runway behind us whilst we were sitting on the...

    Purple to Lilac question

Right guts, I wasn't able to grab some lilac coloured paint, so I figured that somehow I could start with purple and 'tone' it down, So what in your opinion would be the best way to 'desaturate' the Tamiya X-16 to a more pale lilac colour ? would it be as simple as adding white as I...

Langy's 'The Mekon', 1/16 scale figure by Mooncrest models.

And I figured why not throw some colour at him, Firstly a splash of RLM yellow to help with highlighting. And onto the Vallejo Chrome Green... worked better than I thought it would.. Managed to hide the tiny seam line I forgot to correct... finally a bit of work on his eyes...

Langy's 'The Mekon', 1/16 scale figure by Mooncrest models.

Had a play at creating the missing skin texture with some mr surfacer 500 I found in the shed..(god knows when or why i bought it, but it's still useable), but it looks ok...ish, gonna give it a gentle rub down with some 1500 grit to whip off the 'sharp' bits when it's dried..

Langy's 'The Mekon', 1/16 scale figure by Mooncrest models.

A bit more work done, he's now built as far as I can without painting, still a couple of seams to have a tickle at but nothing scary, spent a couple of hours this morning 'pinning' the parts so they won't have to rely on just 'glue' to hold everything...(thanks god for nails and an old coat...

Langy's 'The Mekon', 1/16 scale figure by Mooncrest models.

And we're off the blocks.... Langy's 'The Mekon', 1/16 scale figure by Mooncrest models.

So this will be my entry for the Jakko's Movie/ TV star group build, For those of us who aren't aware who or what 'The Mekon' is, The Mekon was created by scientific experimentation by Treen scientists on Venus , he was specifically engineered for a very high intelligence and as such he had a...

    Airfix 1/48 Hawker Hurricane

And a few markings, these are really good decals, they easily put up with being dragged around whilst laying them down.... Although Airfix could do with taking a bit more care with where they have you put them....reference pics are a godsend.. Exhaust stubs still need some work...but I'm...

    Airfix 1/48 Hawker Hurricane

And after a while attempting to decipher airfix's camo patterns, she got masked up, and then she took a trip to the shed (paint shop) to get her new clothes, Now to let this 'settle' for a while before I start the final run to the finish.. oh... she also got some new teeth..

    Airfix 1/48 Hawker Hurricane

Had a bit of spare time today, so off to the paint shop she went, Tamiya 'Sky', lightened with a few drops of flat white to lessen the stark 'green' finish that it tends to appear as it drys 'Standard' black and white for the panel ines and mottling Flat Earth base coat wasn't...

    Airfix 1/48 Hawker Hurricane

Thanks guys.. flat it is then... :thumb2: Doing a bit of google-fu I've just found a colourised photo of the actual aircraft, Taken 1st October 1940 at RAF Wittering..which would put this aircraft in the Battle of Britain.. There's some pretty obvious repair patches on the fuselage, and one on...

    Airfix 1/48 Hawker Hurricane

Not much to report on this, other than some seem work and a quick test of the wing alignment, quick question though... how much dihedral do the wings have ? as much a Spifire has ? or were they more 'flat' ?
