Making 'progress' with the figures. Go through phases of being really happy with them, to stripping them down and starting again. Afraid the pics have come out terribly, and there is still lots to do. But they are getting closer.- Jack L

Paint mixing
There are some faint mouldings on the bottom, kite marks etc, but I think you would have to be pretty picky to be bothered about those. They really are minimal and definitely don’t catch a stirring rod. -

A few detailed shots of the starboard weathering progress. I'm really happy so far. Biggest challenge will be not to take it too far (may already be too far) but I like where it's at. Taken the streaking a bit further, and I think this is the look I want. Looking for a fairly battered machine. I had a slight nightmare...I left the pinwash too long/completely forgot about it. It's cured beyond the point of blending in on a few rivets, so will need to disguise/tone it down a...- Jack L

Painted the carpentry. Started the chipping process And the oils Maybe a bit subtle at the moment. Will walk away and have a look later. Made the (weird, possibly stupid) decision to go through the weathering in sections. I can't face the tedium of a pinwash all over, then chipping all over...- Jack L

Despite a few hours work, progress seems to have been slow. Added another highlight layer through the airbrush (Light Ghost Grey + Dark Yellow) and then an overall very thinned mist of the base-coat. Lower hull colour added. I had to play with a few colours to get this 'right'. It was too light, but I think I'm happy with it now. The shading of the panels looks a bit stark in the photos, so may have to re-visit with another couple of layers.- Jack L

Painting soldering wire
This is painted soldering wire…primed with Mr Surfacer and painted with Mig. Other than ongoing issues with Mig paints, it pained up fine.- Jack L

Thanks for the messages. Helps to keep me going. Had an hour free between jobs, so have primed her. Took some time, but not as much paint as expected. I had a mad moment, and actually enlarged the cutaway slightly. Got a cunning plan.- Jack L

This little madam has just started her first season, so I feel a bit guilty leaving her to spent time in the loft (modelling area), she‘s pretty needy, but will see how we go with progress. But managed an hour playing with the skin tones…I’m much happier with them. As usual, they look terrible...- Jack L

Thanks Jim...had another go using flow improver instead of water. Worked much better! Yes diluted with water (as per nightshift). The main colour I'm going with is a German Grey, mixed with a tiny bit of tan. Have gone again with some flow improver instead of water and it's definitely worked...- Jack L

Waiting for some paint from John, so been painting a couple of the figures. Not sure about them if I'm honest. Primed in black, sprayed white from above and then went with a glaze in the respective colours. I don't think it's worked. Found it hard to get the glaze consistency right, it was...- Jack L
