A break from RAF stuff with a cuppa 38(t)

A wee bit done through the week, the subtly different shades of ochre on the stowage have disappeared under the wash. Hopefully get as far as pre weathering sealing tonight.

Bit of a compromise, but finally have some display space inside the house, used to be a slim bookcase here full of DVDs, they all fit in the bottom. Just need to pick up a glass shelf to divide the top space, which I forgot to do when swapping over the damaged door earlier today.

    HMS Ambuscade

Just seen HMS Ambuscade is returning to the Clyde to become a museum after Pakistan have decommissioned her. A type 21, launched in 1973, served in the Falklands and saved Hermes from an Exocet, while losing two sister ships. Article here.

OK, bit of a disaster last night, was attempting to airbrush some nice feathered highlights on some panels but it didn't quite work. I usually use a file card as a mask, couldn't find one so used a post-it, too floppy and I ended up with a neat line on a face I didn't want it on. I also mustn't...

    Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Mk.Vb

Meh, Tamiya really need to go to cartograph or someone for their decals. Had a go with weathering pencils on this for exhaust staining, still learning how they work but not a difficult concept.

Playing with AK weathering pencils, trying to add exhaust staining, a bit subtle at the moment maybe?

Well that was a long stint, worked 3 shifts last weekend so today my first day off in 13. OTE will be worth it though. Spent some time this evening painting this using the modulation set. Can't say I'm impressed, I've used an AK set before and the results are far more pleasing (Must finish that...

£19 off eBay and it's brand spanking new...... Then a not so reserved trip to another model shop on my way home, I have never seen so many ranges of paint and finishing products in one place, not even with online shops.

Some resin wheels for a kit in the stash and a Reich flag that will be an air recognition flag on my current tank build. Printed on "adaptable" paper, it will (supposedly) conform to whatever you drape it on and hod its shape, useful for flags flying in the wind, but it'll be draped on the front...

    Tamiyas F-35A looks awesome.

On a FB page I follow a Martin McGuire posted this shot of the weapons bay on an F-35A that is built OOB, goes on to say no AM required for this kit, even includes masking. Photo credit Martin McGuire via FB.

How big is too big and how expensive is too expensive?

Just been looking at the 1/32 Gigant from HPH. A 1750mm wingspan and a €1575.21 price tag. Which has got me thinking, how much are you willing to pay for a kit? (Not even in production yet, they're making one per week.)...
