    Hornby Dublo restoration project

DISASTER! Decided to use a clear coat body lacquer on a tender today instead of a modelling lacquer. It did not like the paint! Lucky I have two spares already painted up. It is worse than it looks as well

So the base is basically done now which is good, connected to a 9v battery. Just got to paint the bottom and that's it. The wiring I have secured with Wagon blocks and decided to solder all the tips together before putting into the blocks as this is all hidden behind a wooden panel.

Starting to pop in the lights, still another 7 to go in round the edges but starting to look ok I think. Pleased with the little inserts around the LEDs, look quite realistic.

    Hornby Dublo restoration project

So trialled a new stripping method (a few stages) but in summary by far the best strip I've ever achieved. 100% paint removal and about 10 mins to complete. Latest project is a Dublo Castle relivery. Primed and already applied top coat BR green which is drying. The Phoenix precision gloss...

Beyond a bit of messing about not a lot done to date. Have done a bit more with the base, glued of some gravel that I will paint over and also scored the concrete blocks. As for the model I have started applying some decals though only had 30 mins spare so not masses done. The builds at that...

So played about a bit more today. Fitting wiring etc isn't the easiest as I am only using stuff I have as I'm making a point of buying anything that isnt essential and all my connecting wire is 2.5mm core i had left iver from the shed. The plinth has made life a lot easier as opposed to routing...

    1/72 Hasegawa Lancaster

Continue the base today, made it more of a plinth so there's space for wiring and batteries etc. Also used grout on the top this time as I assume it will work ok and as I already have it it's free rather than buying more stuff.

    Lancaster registrations

I require information/help regarding Lancaster reg markings. I bought a nice new decal sheet to use (building a MkIII with the radar done underneath) and have found that the reg marks are all different (ie different for each side of the aircraft). Is this because it's just Jane? I have seen...

More tearing today. Have ordered a full new decal set. The roundals for wings came today, applied them and they went on like a dream!! So must be age of the ones in the kit which I think looking at it are 2007, so coming on 20 years old. So next I ordered a new decal set. Had to spray out the...

HELP NEEDED! Managed to tear the small "S" for the tail today, also the roundals on the wings (blue and red). Cannot find squadron code markings with yellow edging anywhere, not the small "s" anyway, it's about 2-3mm shorter than the big S. Does anyone have any of the 3 things above spare? I...

So the pre shade came out ok (though it doesn't show in pics because the lighting isn't that good). Main three colours done and a coat of Mr Colour GX clear super gloss applied and drying ready for the decals. Wheels, under carriage doors, turrets and bomb bay door etc all to be added soon.

    BMW R80 restoration

Decided the final main colour is going to be BMW Cosmos black (metallic black, thought doesn't look it in the pic). Sprayed yesterday and clear lacquered today. Rebuild tomorrow, just need the other one following welding the cracked bracket.

    BMW R80 restoration

Continuing with suspension currently. Found one of the bottom brackets cracked so have sent this to be welded. Other side good so a good clean, buff, mask and primed, hopefully ready for top coat gold tomorrow. Also while looking at bits on the other bench found one of the front brake discs...
