    Coaling tower

For refilling the tender of a train, just open the chute and the coal falls in - would think that Christopher is doing one similar to this

Finding the squadrons 'ID' letter of a plane

Oh well, was just a thought! Thanks for looking - I've just the one photo (not too brilliant one at that), but that was from April 1940 (over North Weald) which is too late for this plane. It had only been with the squadron for just over 6 months (came as a replacement on 12/6/39 under authority...

Finding the squadrons 'ID' letter of a plane

Hopefully the scan will show - it's the 'signal number' (circled in red) Yes, Jakko, it's a specific aircraft

Finding the squadrons 'ID' letter of a plane

How would folks go about finding the 'ID' letter of a WW2 Hurricane - I've most records relating to it, but this is the one piece of info I'm missing, I've possibly already got it, as I've a record of a signal number regarding the incident with the letter 'S' as a prefix - would that be it? (I...

    Bird Watching a Relaxing Hobby

Think that one of the local wood pigeons is telling me that the bird bath needs some water in it!

Meanwhile somewhere in Europe finished (well, until I figure something else on it!)

Some more photos - the smoke really looks better out of focus! Technically, he should have fallen in ;) As said, smoke looks like stretched cotton wool unless out of focus - wonder why?;) Must admit that I am particularly happy with the way the B&W shots come out!

    Meanwhile, somewhere in Europe

Last post on this thread - next will be in the 'completed' section. Think that I've got this corner done - hardest part, as it's got the things that I'd never done - water, smoke and fire.

    Meanwhile, somewhere in Europe

Been putting the pin vice and drills to use - fairly sure that the pots/bucket are probably too thick, but as they'll not be 'in ya face' not too unhappy with the effort. Drilled through the hand, bent half of the handle, then fed through and bent the other side, bucket handle and main pot...

    Latest Acquisitions (2021)

Just arrived! After a fair bit of 'drama' with it not being sent with the original order, bought from a different supplier - not bad for £3.20 incl post, solid metal, just needs a little lubricant on the threads and head

    Concrete effects 1/72?

Thinking ahead about my next planned project (been on 'simmer' for ages!) going to need to do a house with 'pebble-dash' walls (not needing to age it, as it'd only been built less than 10 years) obviously, the pebbles were of varying colours and sizes (max being about half an inch), and...

Help! Read a post on a thread about making tarps - FOUND

The post was about making tarps from a spectacle wipe - and said about painting it with a very thinned down paint, I've now used that method, and when I put up the dio that I'm doing, would like to credit the person who put it up (as it was their post that told me how to do it), but I can't find...

Guess who's been caught out with the number of swarm call outs (another one this morning) :surprised: :upside: more frames needed!

More 'planning' - not yet attached, but trying out ideas Thinking that the smoke is a bit 2D?

Only 3 more to go - slow going braiding under magnification and using tweezers!

    Meanwhile, somewhere in Europe

Still working on this, but need some advice and opinions on something. Does this tarp look 'right' - I keep looking at it, and sometimes I think 'yes', others 'no', and then wonder how to 'improve' it.

Got a few 'other' interests, from watches to airguns

Second dose today, so a good reason to bring it out again (first time it's been worn since the first jab above) :thumb2: ;) :smiling5:
