Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Fernando, it does make a difference to the look of the turret, thanks. Trying to keep up the work Steve, but life keeps getting in the way! cheers! That said, managed to do some of the smaller bits done, seems to be getting to that point where it's the small, fiddly & barely noticeable bits that...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Finally got around to doing a bit more, folding & fitting the mud guards front & rear, as well as adding some of the various small parts to the hull. Had to fill the two small holes in the drivers front plate for the periscopes, as they were off to one side of the drivers visor, they should be...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Jakko, I think you're right about the damage, something that illustrates the harsh environment & fighting in the desert. Thanks Steve, plenty still to do. The exhausts needed a bit of work, trimming off the moulded retaining straps for etch replacements & a monumental sink mark in the auxiliary...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Thanks Bob, you're buying a book that isn't about Stugs? What ever next, you'll be building a British tank....... Done a bit more, the turret is pretty much done, with a couple of etch bits to do. Onto the hull, the mud guards needed a bit trimming off as the etch set has some, those & the...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

A bit more done, adding hatches to the turret & some etch parts. I wanted to have the commanders hatch open, but Italeri moulded the hinges on the hatch halves, so a little bit of cutting with a sharp scalpel removed the hinge part & glued to the cupola. Open commanders hatch! Jakko, it did...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Jakko, great pictures, certainly gives me some ideas, the middle one may be a bit extreme! Richard, the cocktail stick option is my usual method! Jim, Lee, Steve & Pete, Thanks for the encouragement, plenty of things to think about on which direction I should take this build, a knocked out or...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Thanks Lee! Not too much done, just cleaned up & assembled the wheels, all 20 of them! There was me thinking a Panzer IV only had 16, maybe Italeri have done the stretch panzer....... As usual there was a lot of cleaning up to do, I'll have order a large box of sanding sticks.....

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Thanks Bob, I've built a couple of their Crusader kits, which are ok, but need a few upgrades. I've started on the turret, building up the shell, again a bit of fettling required! A bit of modification was needed to make the resin mantlet fit, the casting block on the mantlet was on the turret...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Jim, Si, Andrew & Richard, Thanks for the encouragement, sometimes doing an old kit is just fun! A bit more done, made a start on the upper hull, a bit of fettling of the parts was needed (a bit of a theme going on there). Some filler will be needed in places, removal of some plastic for...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Thanks Lee & Fernando, it's an old kit with a few ejector pin marks & seams in places, but I will persevere with it. A bit more done, finished filling & fettling the hull rear plate & fitted it to the hull. The suspension bogies have been sanded & fitted too, hopefully the rest of the kit won't...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Thanks for your kind words & support guys! A start has been been made, with drive housings & top roller brackets added to the hull tub. unfortunately when I found a lot of ejector pin marks on the hull rear plate, right where they can be seen. Cue the filler! Moved onto the suspension bogies...

Graeme's Panzer IV, Simon's memorial build.

Here's my entry for Simon T's memorial GB, an Italeri Panzer IV, with a few extras, an etch set, gun barrel & mantlet and Dragon indy link tracks. I'm going to see how much I can improve an old kit, if I can do half as well as Simon did, I'll be well pleased.

Airfix OO/HO Class 9F 2-10-0 Steam Locomotive No. 92250. 'Abandoned, but not forgotten'.

All looking very like a railway scrapyard Ron, looking forward to seeing it all together. A bit late, but a photo of a 9F at the Wensleydale railway a few years ago.

Simon T Memorial GB: Nov-Feb 2020. Chat thread

Here's my entry, an old Italeri Panzer IV Ausf G, a poor kit, awful green plastic, horrible rubber band tracks, god knows what I was thinking when I bought it, but £10 price sticker on the box probably explains it. A few extras, etch, barrel & mantlet as well as some Dragon indy link tracks...

Twenty years ago, production of the original Mini ended

Count yourselves lucky, my nephew has one, guess who has to help him with it! Great fun though, still wish I hadn't sold my 92 mini, that I bought new.

Graeme's Tamiya Stug III Ausf G

Steven, Rick, thanks for the kind words. Allen, thanks, hadn't thought of an olive tree, May have to look at doing a base for it though. Added a bit of stowage, bits left behind from a hurried exit by the crew, adjusted the skirts a bit. There are a couple of bits to do but it's more or less there.

Graeme's Tamiya Stug III Ausf G

A bit more done, the tracks fitted. The schurtzen took a bit of care to fit, I'm going for a slightly dishevelled look of an abandoned stug, left to the allies & picked over. The etch plates have to be hung on hooks on the rails & track guards, trying to get them to go on all the hooks together...
