Trumpeter 1/32 US Navy SBD-5/A-24B "Dauntless"

All insignia bars and stars complete and for my first attempt at using Montex masks they haven't come out too bad. The canopy is a bit of a disappointment when I peeled off the masks it left a lot of adhesive behind which was a sod to remove. Cotton buds soaked in airbrush cleaner removed most...

Trumpeter 1/32 US Navy SBD-5/A-24B "Dauntless"

I've made a start withe decal masks. A little difficult to get which parts to apply first as is important to follow the correct sequence no instructions were provided by Montex. Anyway with a lot of applying and re applying I think I got there in the end. For me personally i'd rather use good...

Trumpeter 1/32 US Navy SBD-5/A-24B "Dauntless"

I've picked up this one again, started in 2014, having purchased some montex masks plus national insignia masks too. Will need some advice on how to use the insignia masks as haven't used them before.

    Revell 1/32 JU88

Well I've hung the JU88 from a picture hook(the hook is held by a 4cm pin) using 8lb breaking strain fishing line and I think it looks ok. If it stays put then I think it's the way to go for hanging larger planes when your limited for space. If it falls off I'll be buying a new Ju88:astonished:

    Revell 1/32 JU88

Well I started this one in 2016 and it got a bit lost along the way. It's been sat in my man cave for 3 years . It's all finished now no real problems although when I removed the canopy masks there was a lot of residue from the tape so not as good as I would have liked. I had fun trying to...

    Revell 1/32 JU88A-1

I have spent the last few days Klear coating and laying down the decals which there are great number of. I gave up trying to used the supplied decals for the no step areas as it was impossible to slide them off the decal sheet in a straight line and then position them. So I opted to mask them...

    Revell 1/32 JU88A-1

I spent a day masking ready to spray the splinter camo and then over the last two days I have been spraying RLM 70. All's looking good with only a few areas that needing touching up and some over spray to sort out too. Next will a coat of Klear and then onto the decals.

    Revell 1/32 JU88A-1

Yes Ian it's one that I should have pick up a while ago. To a degree I was thinking how the hell was I going to fit it in my spray-booth and then display it but I'm really to looking forward to the finished model. I've been a little impatient and have made a start on out lining the splinter camo...

    Revell 1/32 JU88A-1

Well after several hours this morning and a whole 17mm bottle of RML71 I have got the first coat down. Doubtless there will be some touchups needed. I used Vallejos airbrush flow improver because of the prolonged spraying time, this seems to have helped. I will leave the paint to harden off for...

    Revell 1/32 JU88A-1

Neil as far as I can remember I had no real issues with the build. The wing tips had to have some plastic card inserted because of the gap but that's about all. I've now started the mammoth task of masking she's a big bird. Looks like I will need buy some more Tamiya tape though!!

    Revell 1/32 JU88A-1

Hi all have had this one on the back burner since August 2016. How it was left was that the model was complete and masked ready for painting . This is where I have picked it up from. The underside has been sprayed RLM65 last night. I have bought a new bottle of Model air RLM 70,71 for the...

    Revell 1/32 Arado Ar196B

Hi all well this has been a long build a year and a day to be precise! Thoroughly enjoyable I would recommended buying and building as you can pick up as little as £14.99. The only thing that lets the model down is the canopy but you can get a resin version from Ally Cat Models for £19 including...

    Revell 1/32 Arado Ar196 B

No worries Ian. Well I have run out of time today to finish the Arado(shame as it would have been exactly a year). All is done bar the wing lights and tail light. Aerial mast is on(no wire) machine gun is in place so tomorrow it will have to be.

I'm on a bit of a roll the rigging is complete and I managed to maintain the tension on the line. Next step is the wings and wing supports and we're almost there just the wing lights another tail light plus canopy/tail fin Aerial masts and cable. It's a year to the day when I started the build...

    Revell 1/32 Arado Ar196 B

Have attached the main float to the fuselage using the stand and tape to hold all in place. Hopefully all is lined up correctly? As there is only one float there is no rigidity with the stays until the glue sets so fingers crossed everything lines up. Once the glue has set I will make a start on...

    Revell 1/32 Arado Ar196 B

Allycats now have the resin canopy back in stock a bit late for my build as I've already completed and attached mine:confused:. I have ordered one that also includes canopy masks and decal masks, which I can use on the two float version that's in my stash. It might be a while before I build it...

    Revell 1/32 Arado Ar196 B

Still no news from AllyCats re:- the canopy so I've made a start on the kit canopy. As I said before the canopy is broken down into nine parts that have to be glued together and held at the right angle this was done in situ on the fuselage. The first two sections can be done on the fuselage but...

    Revell 1/32 Arado Ar196 B

    Revell 1/32 Arado Ar196 B

Paul thanks, the issue with the canopy is that it is made up of of several parts and unfortunately you can see the joins that have internal tabs. The only way round this is to mask the framework extra wide to cover this up here's the canopy I built back in 2012. It looks fine but I thought I...
