    HMS ZULU 14 SEPT. 1942. ( FOR SIMON ).

Hello one and all. Well after the longest tea break in the history of mankind a modicum of work has been done. The main problem has been one of labour. The original Zulu was built in Glasgow (Scotland) where there were plenty of skilled shipbuilders. This one, of course is being built here in...

    HMS ZULU 14 SEPT. 1942. ( FOR SIMON ).

Good Day one and all. Paul, Mick, Peter, Richard, Steve, Chris, Rick, Jim, Andrew and Steve, many thanks for joining me on this endeavour. This is the first ship I have built since I was 12 years old( that was in 1959 ! ). Then it was tiny 1/1200 scale by Eaglewall I think. Anyway shipyard is...

    HMS ZULU 14 SEPT. 1942. ( FOR SIMON ).

Once upon a time, a long time ago On a forum far far away (A small homage to Simon's Avatar) Mr T. built a 1/700 scale Fletcher class destroyer. While my eyesight would struggle with that scale I am going to build this in a way I hope Simon would approve of. Base kit. I am aware of the...

    Salah ad-Din.

Yussuf ibn Ayyub, better known by his Honorific, Salah ad-Din (Righteousness of the Faith). I have portrayed him after he rejected the rich clothing of Sultan of Egypt and started wearing the simpler clothing of a Moslem Cleric. The Rider has turned out okay ,but the horse is another matter. I...

The Foe. ( Saracen Lord ).

The colour scheme is purely imaginary. My interpretation of the box art. While there is mention in writings by both sides of the colourful clothing of the saracens there is nothing as to the actual colours. This model is unfortunately slightly out historically for the time period I...

Generic Crusader Knight (NOT a Templar Knight).

This was intended to be a Templar Knight but when I started painting I realized it couldn't be. The hair is far too long. The "Templar Rules" which governed all aspects of their lives stated that they were to keep their hair cut short. Long hair was regarded as a vanity which they had foresworn.

Order of the Holy Sepulchre (Knight of Jerusalem)

Originally formed to protect the Church of the Holy Sepulchre it soon became the private army of the King of Jerusalem. The face was difficult to paint as the helmet was cast as part of the head.

Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem. (Leper Knight).

This order was originally formed to run a hospital for lepers in Jerusalem and later became a military order. The green cross of the order is believed to be the origin of the international symbol for a pharmacy/chemist. All C&Cs welcome. John.

Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. ( Knight Hospitaller )

This is a 75mm scale figure of a Hospitaller as they originally were. They are probably better known as the Knights of Malta, with their red surcoats . apologies to anyone who has seen these before. John.

    Newcomer.

Good Day, One and All. As a new member to the Forum I feel it only right to introduce myself. My name is John and I live in Cyprus. I do not have any specific genre of modelling, I do what takes my fancy at that moment. I have done quite a bit of figure painting recently, 75mm scale...
