Semi Scale Hull Trawler Arctic Corsair.

Thank you all for kind comments they are genuinely appreciated. I made a show case for it to be put in the residents lounge, to protect it from dust and inquisitive fingers. Unfortunately a few weeks ago someone decided to take off the case and smash several parts of it. As we have dementia...

Semi Scale Hull Trawler Arctic Corsair.

Hi guys. Sorry I have been off the grid for a while dealing with family stuff. Along with trying to rearrange my wife's 60th birthday, that should have been in Lanzarote with our girls and girl friends. As the holiday was cancelled due to this covid business, we managed to sort a surprise party...

Semi Scale Hull Trawler Arctic Corsair.

For the portholes I used a drill to make holes in the superstructure, and I used plastic tube cut into little sections and inserted them into the holes leaving a little proud. At a later stage I'll use 'Gauzy Stuff' to for the actual glass. Having put together the superstructure and clad it in...

Semi Scale Hull Trawler Arctic Corsair.

Mocked up the lower accommodation and lower bridge area around a balsa frame, with plasticard and cardboard. Also carved the funnel out of a laminated balsa block, to act as a former for a plasticard wrap. The funnel area also encompasses another accommodation area. While the glue was setting I...

Semi Scale Hull Trawler Arctic Corsair.

Using a combination of Sarik supplied Navena plans and the shipbuilder blue prints provided by another group member, I started off with the usual basic skeleton with which to fit the deck and hull sides to. So as not to waste what I have in stock, I resorted to cutting up cereal boxes to make...

    boatman's 1/72 HMS Tiger C20 build

Could you not put a crank/pivot along on the Hanger wall, connecting the snake to the door connection lever to reverse the push/pull motion. Alternatively if you want to keep the HB clear, put a 90 degree link where the servo is. Just a suggestion. half way

Semi Scale Hull Trawler Arctic Corsair.

I am currently in the middle of a scratch build for the residents of the care facility my disabled wife and I live in. Born and bred in Hull, we have a long history with the fishing industry that sadly is no more. Several of the residents and their families are ex trawlermen, who only have...

Tamiya 1/350 CVN 65 USS Enterprise

The photo's show them before they were secured, they are now sat in a silicone base with free air around 3 sides. They are also geared but I can't remember the ratio now as they have been in so long.

Tamiya 1/350 CVN 65 USS Enterprise

As the flight deck was going to be removable, I used my tried and tested miniature magnets to secure it with. Having looked at many builds from different modellers with regards to the flight deck, and having looked at photo's of the real thing, I was originally going to highlight the tie downs...

Tamiya 1/350 CVN 65 USS Enterprise

I replaced the elevators with PE making the structure from plasticard again, this required the removal of the moulded on elevator. These were then coated in etch primer, as were all the other PE modifications that were done.

Tamiya 1/350 CVN 65 USS Enterprise

To be able to light the bridge/tower internally I had to hollow out the interior. After this I used green tinted plasticard for the window area. I decided to replace the kit radar arrays and other tower appendages with the PE parts from the detail up kit.

Vietnam Era A.T.C.H. (Armoured Troop Carrier Heli)

As I always like to make my models appear to be well used, I added various bits to the flight deck and deck areas. The mine sweeping gear on the stern, was made from plastic square sections. The crew modified as mentioned before were placed in various poses, and various bits of equipment added...

Tamiya 1/350 CVN 65 USS Enterprise

If you mean the main kit, I just typed in USS Enterprise model kits in the e-bay search bar. The lighting is battery powered Christmas lights. Hope this helps.

Vietnam Era A.T.C.H. (Armoured Troop Carrier Heli)

The Kitty Hawk Huey is a really good kit, however I wanted working rotors and a suitable crew to fill out the deck. Converting the kit engine/gearbox to hide the miniature electric motor/gearbox, wasn't as difficult as I imagined as it fitted straight in without any work. I made a bearing for...

Vietnam Era A.T.C.H. (Armoured Troop Carrier Heli)

Next up was to sort the mechanical internals and make a flight deck, Ramp and anti-RPG bars. The weapons are wooden dowel wrapped in plasticard with brass barrels.

I have just started another thread on here with the build to where I'm up to. I will get back to her soon, but are currently in the middle of a scratch build for the residents of the care facility my disabled wife and I live in. Born and bred in Hull, we have a long history with the fishing...
