    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

Hi ya all! I've been tinkering on the base, chopped an glued it as well as fixing a foam board as the vignette surface. The kerb tiles were glued in place and the central barrier and street lights temporarily pinned. With the Destroid and LAV in place is starting to come together.

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

Hi ya all! I been giving the base some thought and as mentioned before I don't want to go as big as the Regult build. Whilst this achieved everything I wanted, it is a bit big and unwieldy when taking to model shows. My mission this time around was to achieve the same effect but in a much...

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

I very much like the Mechwarrior/BattleTech/Battlemech and the back ground story to the genre. Read enough novels and played enough games to have it well engrained in my psyche.:thumb2: On a positive note they do a 1/72 variant of it from the original Macross source. This is sold on hlj.com...

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

Seasons greetings all! I finally managed to get the decals on, one or two mistakes but overall I am very pleased with the finish. Next round I will seal the decals before I start the weathering process. Thanks for looking.

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

It was a bit warmer today, no hard frost on the ground, so I ventured out to the garage and did a bit more painting and assembly. I think the kits are starting to come together quite nicely. Did a 50/50 smoke and clear green treatment on the inside of the windows and I quite like what I see...

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

Well, I finally threw down the last colour modulation and I am happy with the results. On closer inspection, a bit rough so I may have to give that a bit more attention. Was probably rushing it a bit with the cold. Anyhow, thanks for looking.

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

The mission continues and the garage is pretty darn cold at the moment, but I can't lose momentum. The first round of colour goes on. Thanks for watching.:thumb2:

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

I dragged myself out to the garage (a mild 6 deg C) and threw down an undercoat on the kits. As such not looking too bad, other than a couple of joint lines that will require some attention, as was expected. Thanks for watching.

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

Started to put the LAV together. With regards to the tinting of the the armoured glass, should I apply the smoke/green clear on the inside or outside of the glass? Any thoughts? Thanks for looking.

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

I had a couple of bits arrive for the base display, namely the little Fujimi armoured car I wanted to offset against the Destroid to give the viewer a sense of size of the mecha and just how big it is! At first I thought the kit was a bit dear, but on opening the box I was pleasantly surprised...

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

In the famous words of Elton John, "I'm still standing"! The defender now has legs and is standing proud and menacing. Still some work to do prior to paint and weathering. I put in an order for an armoured car, just to give it scale. Did some further research into the Destroids and discover...

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

I am guilty of procrastinating as I am not happy with the fit of the Bandai kit! Here of some images of of the hip body and lower leg. Not very impressed! Any how, I decided the best thing was to build it sort out the issues as I go along. Here are images of the hip in construction an...

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

Well, this moving along nicely. I have a couple of modules glued together. This is all OK, but still need to figure out the painting process. Alternatively I'll keep it simple and just build, then paint and weather. To assist me on the weathering I have ordered myself a copy if the AMMO Combat...

    Macross - Destroid Defender 1/72

Hi there all, I've parked my automobile builds for now and have closed the garage. I've decided to dust off my Macross mecha that I have been collecting and to start building them. First off is the Destroid Defender, this and a number of similar designs used under licence in the "Mechwarrior"...

    Knight Rider

I forgot to take photo's of the rig I made for the LED's that I mounted of the lighting module posts in the chassis. Ooops! Anyway I did take a photo of the plumbing in the base from the underside and a short video of the light in action. KITT by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr Thanks for looking...

    Knight Rider

Hi ya all! It's been a while. I finally started my Knight Rider build. As per usual it's been dragging along. Here are some WiP pics of dashboard. Painting the individual buttons was quite a task and the colour chart had issues with the translation, with orange being the the main colour...

    AMT Freuhauf Van 1/25

Hi gang! It's been a while since I last posted. As part of my club truck build off, I started at the back with the trailer or van as it is labeled on the box. The beasty 19" long trailer was quite a handful due it's sheer size and interestingly different. The last time I built anything truck...

    1/24 R8 Samba "Sleepah"

It's ALIVE!! Finally this monster build, combining the 1/24 Revell Audi R8 with the 1/24 Revell VW Samba Bus to create a sleeper..... ala, R8 Samba "Sleepah", is over! I have tried new things, rust, seriously modding a car kit & scratch building seat belts. It has it's faults, but overall I...

Well, the end is nigh..... There are faults, but as a first time attempt at this level of modification, I am quite satisfied with what I have achieved. Thanks for looking!:thumb2:

A small update today, finally got around to fitting the seat belts. I opted for lap belts as that is more in keeping with the seats - ideally a full racing harness and roll cage should be fitted by that will be contrary to the look I am trying to achieve. Thanks for looking. :thumb2:
