    First wingy thing for years!

Bear with me on this one. Back story. Finally got around to revisiting the idea of representing what happened to the house I live in in 1940 (it's only been 7 or 20 years since I first had the idea!). Initially, it was going to be 1:24 scale - decided that that was too big - so 1:72 it'll be...

    boatman's 1/72 HMS Tiger C20 build

Wondering if you've thought about a tiny 'torsion spring' they seem to be used for a lot of things nowadays and you might be able to get one in a very low 'weight' which would just be fitted to the axle?

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Nice thing is that they're both 'complete' figures, (a pic of the players destructions) I'm just thinking that it'll be a right pita for painting the accordion :tongue-out3:

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

The two figures that I'm thinking of adding (albeit with a few adjustments and no motorcycle/sidecar!)

Gerry's Armoured Aerosan Lee's Russian Group Build

I'm done with the actual kit, will probably look to working some sort of dio round it in the future, but the calendar is looking full for the rest of the month so it'll probably be after the end of the month.

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

And finally! And yes, it's about 6" long! :thumb2:

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Took a couple or so yesterday, with the first lot we had;) Which has made me think about the base for it, and how it just fades out against a white background:thinking:

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Snag number one with the decals - one piece slogan decal should have been applied before the spare propeller!:tired:

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

And....... Just got decals to go on this (that's going to be unusual, as I've not used decals for ages!) And in its own environment;)

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Turret's done! Though daren't put any more coats of paint on the front sight (clogs the circles) Just got to fit it:thumb2:

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Decided to go with the supplied door handle, but with a little twist of a 'latch' on the inside (small piece of PE cut and trimmed with a small twist on the end) Turret is getting there - PE attached round the edge and the final piece of PE (machine gun foresight) is attached! On the 'home...

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Thanks Tim, I do, however know my limits and skill levels, at the moment I'm nowhere near the standard of a lot of folks on here (hopefully learning and improving though!) Those details are what are slowing me up - seems like it takes forever to just get a 'section' done.:thumb2: Still, onto...

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Today's update - fiddly bits united! Starting by getting the last of the cylinders, pipework and exhausts on, then the pushrods and rockers get fitted. The dynamo gets assembled (4 parts!) and painted. Then it's fitted and lined up with the prop. Jumped a few stages, engine fitted! PE belt for...

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

    Right, 'copper' pipes corrected:thumb2:;)

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

The motor is slowly getting there - would've been helpful if the instructions actually showed that there was a 'correct placement' of the first two cylinders:worried: And yes, the engine is sitting on top of a pair of tweezers!

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

As said, working on the engine, crank area - 18 parts The 5 cylinders are next on the list! (Tweezer tips on right) still got to clean the parts up, but giving the eyes a rest!

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Got the skis on, just getting to the point of splashing the final coat of paint on it, as I'm thinking the engine will make things awkward. next step is to get the engine done - lots of fiddly bits involved with that, though these will be plastic, and not PE

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Further update, two of the skis are assembled, (still working with the magnifiers) all of those little bits of PE are making them appear 'better', I think! You can just make out the springs on top of the ski, will just need to get some paint onto them to bring them out a bit - the downer on...

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Certainly not the 'best' introduction to PE - now started in earnest with it, there's no way that I'd be able to work with this without the magnifiers :surprised: The sprue First bit bent into shape (the blade is a Stanley 10-601) So far, about an eighth of the way through the two sets, and...

    Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

Finally managed to get the first one to look something like the illustration in the destructions - it seems to match the requested shape, just hasn't got the curve just before the buckle The bucket of paint on the right is a Humbrol enamel tin :tongue-out3: Possibly a little clearer pic And...
