    Hornby Dublo restoration project

So playing about today I have finally done away with lining decals. This tender has been hand lined using a lining pen. Corners aren't spot on but were free hand and acceptable for a first attempt.

    1/72 Hasegawa Lancaster

Had a few spare minutes, top almost preshaded, got to mask flaps and wheel bays before doing underneath.

    1/72 Hasegawa Lancaster

Fuselage together, undercoated, filled gaps, undercoated and painted wheel bays and flaps (I did these green instead of black just to add some colour more than anything). Think once gloss varnished they should come up well with a dirty brown wash. Not sure on whether to pre shade as it's only...

    1/72 Hasegawa Lancaster

Fuselage together, not yet sanded joins. Decided today to tackle a wing and to do wheel bay and flaps/ailerons at the same time to simplify. Wheel bays the resin additions add a bit but not masses. The flap parts do look good though. One wing took about 3 hours. Resin extras for wings/tail...

    Tamiya F14A Aggressor

Finally completed after far too long. Thanks for all the comments and encouragement that saved it from an untimely fate. I'm nowhere near 100% happy with it but from what I had at one stage it's unrecognisable!

    1/72 Hasegawa Lancaster

F14 finally done, continue with Lancaster now! Eduard detail set is great and very appropriate as only detailed areas are ones that can actually be seen through the canopy. The bit hanging down on the left bottom side of the main pilots control panel is godly as this is a folded (three folds)...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

All that remains is to fit the canopy.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Hi all, Does anyone know what this is? Looking at photos it doesn't seem to be a light but the instructions say it should be red. I have also looked at night photos and there's no light visible here? (It is not the arrestor hook).

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Weathering commenced. Top done, bottom still to do. Need to fit hard points for sidewinders which I forgot, entry ladder, canopy, rear seat, arrestor hook and then it will be done.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Hi Chris, No I think it is just the way the light has caught it. That's just a 1.99 set of pre wired green LEDs cut down to only 6 lights. I did but a big mixed pack of LEDs etc but decided to use these ones to start just to make it easier and save time. Base board is basically painted apart...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Filled in the tie down pilot holes as they are never going to be here before Xmas. Pre shade done for tomorrow's top coating.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So no plane progress but progressed the base. Undercoated and lights for taxiway fitted. Cheap £1.99 LEDs of Amazon. Just used router to make space for battery pack and wires.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Base sanded, holes drilled for tie down pints which is what I think is in the centre of each slab (educated guess as it's a naval Air station). I have ordered some 3d printed ones off eBay which I have drilled pilot holes for, main holes to be drilled when they arrive. Sprayed with under coat...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Decals completed, clear coat applied and drying now. Front part of canopy done but not fixed in place as yet. Also started marking the base today. Have decided to put in lights for taxi way so drilled pilot holes for these.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So base research. Google Earth amazes me. Literally in 5 mins went to NAS Fallon, looked at the apron and found the bit I am going to use. 50cm x 50cm base works out 16m x 16m at 1/32 scale.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So a grey dull day, so best place to spend it was the shed. Extra decal sheet all applied and I have used the Tamiya ones that were common to all makes of F14A just to add detail and features. A longer soak and washing up liquid removed them without any cracking like I'd had before. Also...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So after a long wait the canopy arrived. Annoyingly while removing the flashing I dropped a file on it so need to buff out the damage and clear coat it away. Fit isn't as good as I'd like so will likely be open when done. Mr Colour clear GS super smooth gloss applied all over and done decals...

New compressor needed ( and very nearly new shed !!!)

I leave my compressor on H24 as it's a 50L tanks and easier to keep it topped up. I have a fire stick by the door. These seem very uncommon but came across them when servicing rally cars during events. The videos of what they put out on YouTube is impressive and sold it to me.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Another project with hampered progress, this time as the ultrasonic I am waiting for is needed to clean out both air brushes. Used them an awful lot recently and they are at that stage where nothing short of a full strip, soak and clean will do. I did manage to start doing the decals on the...
