    Hornby Dublo restoration project

So after looking at the pictures of the previous A4 the chassis annoyed me somewhat as it is looking tired next to a brand new looking body. So, I got some running chassis of eBay and tore them to bits. Some bits in the ultrasonic currently but chassis was stripped to the basic block, repainted...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Another full day and plenty of progress. I have done all nav' lights, resprayed nose cone (have to retouch the metal where the gun pod is), touched in all the flat black around the cockpit sides and rear, completed painting and varnishing munitions (decals to go) and also sprayed the foot wells...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Yes more photos. Sorry if the amount is going to crash the site. After doing the nav' lights, that aren't nav' lights these have been redone as formation lights but also did all the ones of missed. Mixed sand, luminous green, clear green, silver and light duck agg for this. Also filled the...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Nav' lights sprayed in with clear red and green. Front gun pod sprayed titanium. Filled the crack around the nose cone with putty so it's not as evident. Also,Tamiya supply two sets of the covers that go behind the wings. I have cut one down so it fits for wings either way (extended or swept...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So more progress however I did make the mistake of standing it on it's tail, unattended on what turned out to be not as flat a surface as I thought. A large crash and bye bye fwd wheel well doors. Anyway damage fixed and under carriage on, also air brakes attached now in the open position. I...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

A lot of masking tape and kitchen towel has been used today......

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So done for today. Masked and sprayed the wheel wells and the tops of the tail fins and tbh it's starting to look better. I know it's a long shot but I'm going to email Tamiya and beg for a new canopy and surround as it's really not good even after polishing. Thanks for all the kind comments...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

A little more progress, seem to have found a bag of enthusiasm today! Does anyone know what colour the parts where the wings fold are supposed to be? From the moulding they look like canvas?

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So the base coat is done except for.some touch ups and the canopy. Not too bad all in all for two hours. Blue I picked turned out far more grey so had to use a darker blue in the end.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So got nowhere near what I wanted done today. Started the masking for the dark blue and grey though which seems luckily quite simple.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So more masking, using a fair bit of kit hen roll to minimize tape use. Sprayed on the lighter blue as it seems 60% of the body is this colour. Light grey and dark blue to go. Once completed I am going to varnish it all and then black/brown wash it all to tone it down a lot.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So light grey sides done. So sick of this model.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

Another day and sprayed the underside. Gone for an egg sheel green grey. I suppose it's a bit Soviet however seems to match the representation and also it's an aggressor aircraft.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So but more progress today. Fitted front panel and section of canopy. Also sprayed some areas which are to be aluminum and titanium when finished. Had to cut out a section of the front seat as the pull handles got snapped when I dropped the model so I am replacing with original kit ones...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So the tale of the tomcat goes from bad to worse. Pickled it up while spraying and snapped off one of the elevators. Not the end of the world however cut flush and inserted 4mm diameter piece of sprue and it will be fine. Preshaping I haven't done before and many areas aren't near enough but...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So undercoated and started pre shading. Not very happy with it to say the least. Photos make it look a lot better than it is.

    1/72 Hasegawa Lancaster

Well bomb bay in and interior all sprayed black (just undercoat currently). Plenty of cutting but generally the dry fit all seems good without any real force or modification required. Unfortunately the resin bomb racks are so fine they seem to just snap as soon as I try any form of removal even...

    1/72 Hasegawa Lancaster

So got this ages ago and wanted to build something as I'm so fed up with the F-14. Have a few resin bits and also Eduard cockpit panel. Feel excited even just opening the box! Now covered in resin filings already!

    Heng Long 1/16th tanks

So yet another project I am only reminded of how dormant it is by the primitive state of my cave in the back ground. So need space, as modellers always seem to do so going to bother my lazy backside and finish this and then move it along. Started the chipping, always comes out well in hull...

OO Gauge steam motor rail coach fixing

Evening all, Was faffing today and thought I'd make a thread about it. This is in my collection and thought I'd give it some TLC before I find it a new home. I didn't build it but the roof was a mess, buffer snapped off one end and one of the bogeys was in 10 pieces (its held together with...
