What did you fly in today?

Been flying this old beast for past couple of weeks, Piper Super Cub. Hence lack of model making and bike building progress.

    Honda VFR400R Restoration

So almost two years since the last post?! I put it under a cover and forgot about it until a month ago. Bought a scrap exhaust for a few quid for a different bike to make a new one and low and behold on eBay a VGC one turned up in someone's shed. Finally all I need is the front wheel spacer...

    GSXR750 K1

I think in that case Tim I must have gone right over you last time I went to Henstridge...

    GSXR750 K1

So another bike with issues. So far was told by a garage the bake brake wasn't working when they MOTd it and it needed "extensive work". I bled it and changed fluid and it's fine. Speedo next issue, reading but not right (I'd estimate about 10th of actual speed). Did some logical thinking...

    Tamiya RC Ford Escort

So my friend runs a rally car and last time I saw him he had bought the Tamiya RC kit of the same model. Having always wanted to build one of these but not particularly wanting to buy one I borrowed this kit and built it, but as his car. Most of the decals I had to make or mask/spray. Only...

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So here's where I'm at. The photos don't do justice how bad the fit is. Looks like my infant built it.

    McFarlane space marine

Shocking to see that it's almost two years but finally completed. Need to speed up a lot! It's not great but it's ok, my photos also aren't great.

    Tamiya 1:32 F-14

So being so long since I did anything to this post I thought I'd make some progress to post about. The issue with the canopy killed any drive I had for this project however I think it is salvageable so am continuing. Bits of the body are together, the fit is dreadful. Ever joint will need...

    The Motorbike Thread

So upon my return I decided after a serious think to sell some bikes. After failing to sell any ended up getting another. Classic cars are too much so a 1967 T200 seemed the bet best thing.

    BMW R80 restoration

Front end bearing heated and on and likewise with front cover. Though just discovered stainless hex bolts don't fit which is annoying.

    1/100 Flames of war series

So all armour done and just the 2 88mm gun crews and bases and 3 field gin crews and bases still to paint. For a first got o wasn't displeased with these. They seem to have come out well with several coats of varnish. Detailing picked out with black tamiya panel accent.

    BMW R80 restoration

So heads and rocker covers on finally. Need a new front end bearing and then get the front end on in the next week hopefully.

    1/100 Flames of war series

So as I now have some more time I have cracked open the next box and gone for some German armour and troops.

    BMW R80 restoration

So unfortunately I do not have an up to date photo but the rods are in, crowns on and barrels and heads on as well though not tightened. Honed the cylinders and fitted new piston rings. Hoping when I return to make some substantial progress and maybe get it running even if its just on the bench...

    McFarlane space marine

So something I missed. Between undercoat and painting I actually completely stripped the model into component parts and base coated.

    1/100 Flames of war series

Gives a better idea of scale

    1/100 Flames of war series

So they are almost all done with the exception of the two lynx choppers. Looking forward to moving onto the WWII German box next!

So finally I have found a pot of enthusiasm and got on with it...... Base coat done, time for detail and weathering!

    Spots on the Internet (2022)

Nothing new but this greatly excited me. A few 1/32 lightnings available from China all of a sudden. Price seems very reasonable compare to what these usually go for. Down side is about 3 months wait for it to arrive. I have gone for one as it's always good to have a reserve and price is far...
