    boatman's 1/72 HMS Tiger C20 build

I must agree with Ralph that this level of detail sounds mindnumbing, but it will all be worthwhile in the end. I'm sure your good lady is also enjoying the detail work. I had a look around and found some photographs of my other models but first I thought you might like to see the workings of...

    boatman's 1/72 HMS Tiger C20 build

I think r/c models were much easier before the use of 2.4ghz radio (and the binding issues), and the use of the ESC. The Bobs Board mechanical wiper controllers were far easier, just mount on top of a servo and give an occasional clean . Found this old photograph of one of mine in a fishing...

Twenty years ago, production of the original Mini ended

Love them or hate them, October 4th 2000, the last traditional Mini rolled off the production line.

    Revell Benledi H-315

Thanks Pete, I will probably look at the schedule next year or 2022 depending how things go. The other sailing paddler, Kingswear Castle would also make for a good trip, it's just too far from where we are. Not sure when the Medway Queen or Maid of the Loch static paddle steamers will complete...

    Revell Benledi H-315

The first of four stages in the build of the model is where progress is now at. Deck cranes, four at 5 ton and one 20 ton are movable items, which I'm unsure whether to stay with and now consideration is being given to gluing them solid at a later stage. Revell say the deck colour is black, yet...

    Nina 1:90 Revell Kit

Thank you, Ralph, Ian and Joe. After completion of the kit, I purposely left off a long flag from the rear and four handrail mounted swivel canons. No other kits or builds indicated these were fitted, but with further research there were never any plans or drawings made of the ship, all the...

Mayflower II - A Superb Restoration

In the USA, the sailing ship, Mayflower II has just undergone a restoration costing in excess of 11million USD. The craftsmen involved in this restoration were pleased to use Danish White Oak wood. Mayflower II was originally built in Brixham, Devon in 1955 and she was gifted to the Americans...

    Revell Benledi H-315

That must have been a good career Dave and that's a lovely photograph of MV Beaverbank. I can only guess, containers and the shipping companies registering their ships in other countries (for financial purposes) must have brought on the changes to the industry. I don't have any such connection...

    Revell Benledi H-315

Bought this old Revell GB kit some time ago and kept it stored. Decided to make a start and the first part with an old kit is to inventory all the parts. The kit was in a heat sealed bag which just seemed too new for such an old kit (1968 on the box). Anyway upon carrying out the inventory two...

    Nina 1:90 Revell Kit

Nina was known to be Christopher Columbus's favourite of his three ships. Couldn't resist buying this old 1992 Revell plastic kit when it appeared on ebay. The photograph at the early stage of the build is to show the small size of the hull. Thanks for looking, Tony

    Latest Acquisitions (2020)

Couldn't resist buying this Revell 'Nina' when it appeared on ebay. The kit is from 1992 when Revell were in Illinois USA and tied with Monogram. First impressions are that it should build into a lovely little miniature historic ship. Nina was Christopher Columbus's favourite of his fleet of...

    Revell 1:87 'Big Boy'

Revell 1:87 'Big Boy' an OOB build with some background scenery. The wheels and linkages are all ok to turn as described in the kit, I now wonder if it was worth the effort for a static display. Unfortunately I didn't take many photographs during the build. A detailed weathered build of this...

    Dapol General Store

Dapol CO19 General Store. An old Airfix kit from 1957 now made by model railway company Dapol. The kit's printed paperwork give the builder the option of the model being either a hardware store or a pet shop. Whenever I build a model, window glazing is always a problem, with this kit it was...

    Trolleybus kits, advice sought.

Hi, I have a liking to build a trolleybus preferably from a kit. Looking on ebay and the internet, there isn't much choice (other than ready built die-cast), which is understandable as it's not a common subject these days. Does anyone know of any kits around OO/HO scale size? I have found...

    Revell 1:144 Tug - Fairplay X

An interesting little tug to build. Despite it's small size (179mm long) it builds into an accurate model. Mine was built as an OOB build of Fairplay X (Hamburg). Decals and flags are also provided for Fairplay I (Antwerp) and Fairplay III (Rotterdam). Brush painted using mainly Aqua Color.

    Revell R.M.S. Olympic 1:700

My offering of the Revell R.M.S. Olympic. An OOB build with a few minor changes, the bench ends are painted black, the dados in the well decks are painted and some minor alterations to the kit suggested rigging. Wish I would have used EZ Line for the rigging and increased the number of funnel...

    Airfix 1:32 VW Beetle

Had a change from model ships/boats and bought this Airfix VW Beetle. Not the best of builds, but it was my first attempt at a car model. Really enjoyed the build, the small parts needed some flash removal but the bodywork was excellent. Bought the kit as my first car was a 1955 black VW Beetle...

    Revell Harbour Tug

Revell Harbour Tug 1:108 scale. Decided not to build as the instructions, but to the original 1955 version 'Long Beach' after receiving the box art from an American model making friend. Brush painted with either Revell Aqua Color or Humrol acrylic. Decals had to be printed on the computer using...

    Revell N.S. Savannah 1:380

Here is my offering of Revell's nuclear cargo/passenger ship the Savannah. The build was going very well in the early stages and the large parts were relatively flash free and fitted well. Later on in the build the smaller parts i.e. cranes, deck fittings etc, took a lot of filling and cleaning...
