Model Makers Marking Out and Cutting Jig For Scratch Building (10cm)

Agreed. It looks like a 3D print Andy ! Metal is the way to go for any cutting jigs with regard to being accurate and robust in my opinion.

My first car! Airfix - 1:43 - Aston Martin DB5

That 1/43rd scale Airfix DB5 is a relatively new kit as it happens. Airfix only started dabbling in 1/43rd scale about 6 or 7 years ago. They also did a DB5 kit in 1/32nd scale that is yonks old, dating back to the 60's /70's I think

Model Makers Marking Out and Cutting Jig For Scratch Building (10cm)

I think John race was trying to establish what the jig is made from. Is it die cast metal or something else? The do not heat notice on it suggests it might be made from some sort of plastic or resin. If plastic or resin, probably not the best of materials to use for a cutting jig ?

    TABLE SAW.

There are a number of inexpensive miniature table top circular saws on Amazon. Look carefully at the pictures of them as the same item is sold under different brand names when you look. Some have an adjustable saw blade height and others not. The adjustable saw blade ones tend to cost a little...

Cheap Amazon Magnifying lamp, no longer working!

If one buys really cheap tools and equipment you have to look at them as disposable items as they will not last long unfortunately. I still have and use the good quality tools I bought when I was an engineering apprentice back in the sixties. Pay that bit extra and you will get a lifetime's...

    A game changer…..

That assembly jig looks like a well designed bit of kit.

    My first car

My first car was Simca 1000. Lovely little French motor. They got it right with the seating. Made Mini seats feel like wooden benches by comparison

    FIFA WC 2026

Disagree Neil. It wouldn't cost a fortune on real terms. We already have numerous good stadiums to stage the World Cup thanks to investment both at national level (Wembley, Murrayfield and Millenium), legacy stadiums like the Etihad and Olympic that were repurposed after the Commonwalth and...

    FIFA WC 2026

The sport (if you can call it that these days) is over run with money grabbing people all around it. Premium sporting events being grabbed up by pay channels to watch (not only football I might add). Well overpriced football merchandise costing very little to have made like shirts and kit that...

    Its too flipping Hot!

The trick in keeping the house cool during the day is open up all the windows during the night to vent the place with cooler air. Early morning before it starts to get hot outside, close the windows and draw all the curtains to retain the cool air as much as possible for as long as possible...

    Steven's Viking Ship (1/50 Revell)

Lovely Viking Longship taking shape here. That elderly Revell kit is reputed to be quite an accurate representation. Ref Crew Members. I think that Emhar also made a longship kit and marketed a crew separately. Don't know the scale of their model re compatibility of their figures to use on...

Get Derek from Matthewsons onBangers and Cash on Freeview channel 27 to auction off the Austin Sevens for you as he will collect the cars. All the rest of the stuff, put the lot up for auction with your nearest local auction house with no reserve if it is just a clearance you are looking for...

    Brands

I can remember many of the Matchbox Aircraft kits being moulded with more than one colour of plastic. A bit weird I thought as they appeared to be the only manufacturer doing it at the time.

    ???

If creating a Worm Hole was feasible, would it take as long as HS2 to create, be well over budget and due to spiralling costs have to stop at the Andromeda galaxy ?

    Brands

What kits you build is often driven by subject matter. Sometimes an older kit that needs a bit of work might be the only one made. Due to the complete lack of a kit of any description, sometimes I have had to start scratch building. But that is another ball game altogether.

Model clubs, what exactly do you do?

Clubs are for some, but not others. It just depends on your particular personality I guess. Most model clubs I have been to tend to be a social evening. Some run in house competitions that should not be taken too seriously at club level as they are judged by everyone voting on the night ! Good...

    Rod Stewart's layout

I read somewhere that Rod worked on a lot of his models in hotel rooms whilst on tour instead of propping up the bar! A few years back, some local yobs broke into a local model railway club's building and trashed as much as they could of their scenic layout. Rob got to hear about it and gave...

    The state of things.

The big question is, has Kitstop been getting sent payments for 'Jelly Cats' due to this scam that sounds to me like a very bad practical joke impacting on their business by some demented computer nerd and having to refund those duped people.
