Brian I have usually seen the top mast and the TOP GALLANT mast sections left as varnished wood or perhaps painted the ochre color. Great job on the anchor ring puddening. Hammocks were always brought up but of course when not in battle only half would be in the cranes since only one watch would be active. John You could check in an art store for raw artist's canvas, that might be less expensive.- wotan

Brian I have not built a Mantua model although I hear that they are very good. I have built a few Corel models which I enjoyed; They do have a rather nice Wasa model. However I would wait until you have fully rigged Victory before you commit to another one. John- wotan

Brian I'm not sure about this but it looks to me like the pulley slots you have made in your cathead are not correctly aligned with the support bracket. These catheads support the cables for the anchor when it is "catted". in which case the supports are aligned with the pulley slots vertically...- wotan

Brian If you want to lay your own hawsers and cables then you would need a ropewalk. I have always found that ship modelling stores can supply ready made cable in most sizes. this is a short definition of cable making ( leaving aside the details of cable laid and rope laid) I hope this helps to...- wotan
