    The RAF system was a clear bulb which was covered with the appropriate colour before installation inside the clear lens cover. So arguably even more efficient than having a pre-coloured bulb or lens. Modern aircraft use a similar setup, but I'm not sure if the bulbs are pre-coloured or not.

    I've had models where one person liked and that was it. It happens, people miss posts. May I suggest you put your completed photos in the completed ships section Chris? Maybe members don't realise you've completed the Hornet build. :)

    Masking.

    Hi George. I normally use Tamiya tape too, but I also have used Ammo and Vallejo brands. Much of a muchness really. Tamiya tape is more readily available, and you can get them in either dispensers, or as refills.

    I had a look through my bookmarks Tony, and found this colour chart for Japanese paint codes in 1945. 6-2 "Ao-iro" (Army code No.13/Navy E-1) is a likely candidate for the overall blue scheme. Equates to an FS number of 5088, which looks like a colour weirdly known as "Handicap Blue". I think...
