    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

I bought 100 of the plastic pipettes from China. They were only a few pence each, so not worth cleaning if you need anything stronger than water. Pete

    Pete's Humbrol Tempest

Well, the wing fit is a bit disappointing: I need to get some fresh filler as my tube of Perfect Plastic Putty has gone solid. I've got Humbrol filler but that takes a lot of sanding and this is an awkward place to sand, whereas PPP can be smoothed with a wet cotton bud. The panel lines and...

    Brian's Sovereign of the seas

Good choice Bri. Trenails on the ship would I guess be around 1/2 inch or 12.5 mm in new money. I think you said she was 1/78 scale, so the trenails would have to be 12.5 / 78 = 0.16 mm. I wouldn't fancy drilling all those holes that size. They'd also stand out and make the deck look cluttered. Pete

    My first car

Also a floor mounted starter button in the very early ones I think. My mum's best friend, a single lady, bought a new Minor every alternate year, taking a holiday in the intervening years. Never went over 50mph, pulled into laybyes if there was traffic behind her, and used both hands to pull...

    My first car

Oh, you youngsters. I remember when Premium petrol was less than half a crown per gallon, so I could fill my mum's Singer Chamois tank for a quid! Free Redex shots at most garages too. Pete

    Would you find this useful?

I've never found conversion charts to be much use. Would be best if you don't say they're alternatives but just the same name from other suppliers. You'd perhaps also need a disclaimer to say that you can't accept any responsibility if the alternatives are unsuitable. In my marketing days for...
