Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Basically this is how I mask my canopies if anyone is asking... I simply cut the overlaps with a new sharp blade as the tape becomes the guide. Cheers, Wabble

    Abe was here.

The USS Abraham Lincoln was in town basically docked at Klang Port just a short drive away. Unfortunately for 9/11, they have ceased having civilians the opportunity to go on board only military personnel are allowed. Could have gone to see it but from a far, sadly I had no time. Friends have...

Getting it to look like this just took me 45 minutes but finding bench time took days. Apologies for the slow progress. Now it's adding the engraved panel lines and attaching to the Hurricane. Cheers, Wabble

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Today I just drilled three holes to begin the process of sculpting the air scoop opening. With a burr I will enlarge the aperture by removing the access between the three holes and carefully working towards the lip. Busy day so just the three holes for now. Cheers, Wabble

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

While the front was curing I added the hinged lid to the back... At this angle you can see the excess putty I have left on the scoop for sanding off. It is always better to have slightly more than an exact amount of putty shaped for sanding to shape. This way I can get the shape right. Cheers...

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Okay, puttyied the front portion with the scoop. Will let it cure before drilling the aperture. Thought of forming the aperture with card or thick foil but decided this was easier. Only thing now is to get the taste of the putty off my tongue having moistened the tooth pick while sculpting. A...

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

With little or no time for a new diorama, I have decided to rehash an old diorama which has never been entered in the Penang MALCOM competition. Some of you may have seen it before when I posted some finished dioramas in the past. There's quite a lot to spruce up all-round including the...

    Oink Oink

I would like to share this with dog lovers. Just a while back my wife picked up this little thing that was fumbling and crawling all over a car park field in the dark. At first we thought who would leave a piglet in a field? Because that was what it looked like when we saw it...big head, pointy...

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Thanks Steven and Paul, apologies for the late reply. I have learnt a painful lesson...earlier in the build I had assembled the belly air scoop and dry fitted it and the fit was so good it stayed and I left it. After fiddling with the mods I discovered it had gone missing. Should have glued it...

Building of the building looks good John. Oof...! Very generous with the glue there... Just curious, were you leveling the surface to get a good fit? I have the same kit and want to avoid this problem. Thank God there are photos and looking forwards to the Dio Cheers, Wabble

Richards Hurricane Airfix 1/72 GB build

Thanks Doug. I just couldn't leave things alone and scratched the external fuel tanks as per the reference given out of plastic tubing, thick plastic card and magic sculpt. Once the putty has cured I will add the rib straps where each tank had three each. This is the reference image from...

Thanks guys, Today found some time to fit and adjust the Hispano cannons to the wing edges before gluing them down with CA. I feel the outer guns should be a fraction further apart but I'm okay with it. Tempted to drill out the barrels but holding back...whose going to stare down at it...
