Decided that getting some paint on the hull was a good move so its got a coat of mr hobby black , when thats dried i will mask off the bottom from the waterline and paint the orange.- Mark1

Today i enjoyed my time deck masking:tired: great fun! A few touch ups here and there to do but the lower rear deck(on the left)can now be fitted which means i can now get on with building up the rest.- Mark1

Timimg couldnt have been any better, put on the last bit of masking tape just as the postie arrived with paint i was waiting for -

So today's efforts. Got some colour on the decks, and colour on all the masts/hoists.some railings fitted at the back and started building the bridge which is pain as theres so many little bits ,some are clear parts. Another quick on the inside ,not that it will be seen.- Mark1

So ive made a bit of progress,first round of pe out the way, bit wobbly here and there but itll look fine painted on the shelf. as for this mast ,they supplied steel rod for the two antennas which had no chance staying there with a blob of ca,there far to heavy ,so they've been replaced with...- Mark1

Along with the 1/350 soya,i got this and an etch kit for it courtesy of japan plaza A load of etch ,resin and wood deck kit for 1/200 missouri, the deck kit all the way from australiaAnd this was a christmas present -

With just a few finishing touches left on hms cornwall ive got a new project underway. The soya was the first observation ship japan sent to Antarctica a start has been made already on the hull which is very nicely detailed and just because i love the feeling of frustration and gluing things...- Mark1

A little bit more progress, painted the yellow sections on the front of the wings and made a start with the decals, the decals are quite nice to work with, 10 seconds in the water and there good to go.- Mark1

Right, so since my last post ive give it a blast of the right colour and laquered it, the bin has been moved a little closer to the bench also cos one more f#@£ up and thats where its going:angry: think this has cost me the same in paint as the kit cost now:tears-of-joy: Wrong colour Right...- Mark1

So after the big paint cockup and it nearly getting binned i have set about it with some of this Its making a great job of it,especially as its had to work its way through 2 acrylic clearcoats,2 coats of laquer green,2 coats of laquer silver and a coat of tamiya rattle can primer. Thanks Andrew it was ! So have just given it a coat of valleo gloss ready for decals and....... a strange mottle has appeared all over it! Not really sure what im gonna do with it now- Mark1

Had a coat of mr color sm 201 silver, after having a go with the chipping fluid on the cowling and not being particularly happy with it ive decided to go with the masking fluid chipping method, the results are much more predictable.- Mark1

Thanks chris, As for painting, ive just been looking into that, it is said that many jap planes werent primed and suffered from extensive paint flaking/chipping, this is true in a lot of cases but after just having a read it would seem all the zeros were primed, well i fancied doing a real...- Mark1

Making some decent progress today, fusalge has now been filled and sanded so the cockpit will be going in and the wings glued in place, the engines put together, will maybe give it a dry brush of silver.- Mark1
