M8 Howitzer on modified Stuart chassis

A very useful little unit that fought in every theater.

    Churchill Crocodile

Thanks guys glad you like her, the Churchill was laughed at at first with it's WW1 look but it turned out to be a real world beater. Jim.

    T34/85

Slogan on turret is actually Czech not Russian, I did not know that at the time🫤 Jim

    King Tiger

Thanks Peter, just put down your base colors and wash them almost to black, then just work them back dry brushing layer by layer with some additional re-washes as you go.

    T34/85

Your basic T34 with an upgraded much more powerful 85mm gun and a larger more ballistic turret.

    King Tiger

Sad to say this awesome looking heavy tank contributed to germany's downfall. A totally unnecessary delve into overengineering, waste of precious resources, manpower and manufacturing capabilities, severely underpowered with the same engine as the Panther. Was rushed into theater with many un...

    Semovente

Thanks guys, actually it was not classified as a tank but a self propelled gun, it's low silhouette was one of it's few saving graces much like the German Stugs ect... It's air cooled engine was another plus for desert environs, they were indeed a tight fit for it's crew members. It had decent...

    Update on Ron

Oh, I do like the diorama idea but the one I am currently working on is one of my typical horrendous creations and not appropriate for the occasion I feel. I will put my mind to something a bit more cheerful. Jim.

    Update on Ron

Just read the sad news, Ron was a true inspiration to so many of us, his modeling skills were indeed superb and especially his photographic talent was unique and had a touch of reality not seen very often. When I first started photographing and posting threads I implored him to share his...

How do I change my avatar?

Back in the day I used to have a pic from my gallery as my avatar but I can't seem to find out how. I'm sure it's very simple, that's probably why I can't figure it out 🙄 Jim.

Awesome work Ernie, superb weathering and the base is beautifully done. Jim.

    Rocket Man

My drinking days are far behind me nowadays, I.ve needed reading glasses for quite some time for close up work but my farsightedness is still excellent, which is great for hunting. As far as senility goes if I do have a touch how would I know? 🫠😴......😳

    Rocket Man

Thanks guys, I like doing winter camo as it gives one a chill just looking at it, plus the rust, dirt and grime are nicely contrasted. Jim.

    Rocket Man

I'm sorry my friend the real two reasons tracks face different directions are #1-bad eyes....#2-good vodka. Please don't be angry but I just couldn't resist:) But I must say there is nothing wrong with your eyesight, after 20years or so I never noticed myself😳

    Rocket Man

But of course, every one knows that after 1944 the bombing of a certain casting plant in Eindoven made only left handed tracks available :sneaky:

    Wooly Mamoth

Thanks Jim, I follow no rules not even my own, it seems when it comes to weathering I basically have no established pre-vision. Things just seem to happen and sometimes I feel I'm just along for the ride.

    Semovente

Thanks Joe, the Semovente series included several versions built on various chassis some even including anti-tank weapons for the role of tank destroyer. They were basically turretless stopgap weapons of dubious worth. They had mixed success rates but basically did not stand a chance against...

    Wooly Mamoth

Thanks Steve, materiel is a combo of medical gauze and some of that liken like artificial foliage used by model railroaders and a lot of white glue mixed with a bit of water and then painted of course. I only use the best cheapest water based kiddie craft paints ;) Jim.
